I'm finding this quite an expensive experience...I'm charged:

    £15/EUR20/US$26/RM90 in Central London (BG80 or NBG95)

Perhaps I should consider buying a stringing machine?

Hmmm. How expensive. In our country, I only pay 40 to 50 pesos. That's like less than 1 US$.

Sure. You'll enjoy your stay here. I'll introduce you to our club and we'll play badminton 3x a week. ;)

Hey. I just realized something. I forgot to point out that 40 pesos (less than 1 US$) is the cost of stringing services only. It excludes the string which probably costs 300 to 400 pesos (6 to 8 US$).

In Brunei, everywhere u go, Indians conquer badminton shops. They sort of set the standard of the stringing charge and the shuttlecocks.

Everyone has their racket strung for B$10 (including strings like BG-65, 66, 80; I understand Nanogy is more expensive but I never use it). B$10 is for both stringing and the string. That is about USD7. Yet, we still complain about the charges. Humans are never satisfied. B$10 isthe same as SGD10.

I posted in another thread 1 or 2 yrs ago (can' recall) on the avg cost of playing the sport. I basically spend about USD45 assuming 1 tube of Yonex shuttlecocks and 1 stringing per mth. I play about 2-3 (sometimes 4) times a week. Each session is at least 2 hrs. This includes everything like my club membership, my isotonic drinks, grip tape (which is kinda cheap anyway) etc In Brunei, Badminton is kinda expensive sport, I think. Probably, it is generally expensive everywhere.

I live in the central valley of California and badminton isn't very popular. So when my string broke, my brother and I would have to drive 3 hrs to the bay area to get it restrung and drive back.

It was OK at one point because it was an excuse to get out of town. Plus back then gas was less then $2 a gallon. But when gas gotten more expensive, a trip would cost like $60 for gas and $20+ for stringing. So a stringing job is like $80.

We figured that it's just better to buy our own stringing machine so that's what we did.

    Stringing is £7.50 + £18.99 for BG80. A total of £26.50. How do you think I feel?
