How long does it/should it take for moderator to approve thread?
As title, I'm waiting on a thread being approved in 'places to play' - don't normally expect to wait so long to have it done and wondered how long this should take?

In usual practice, what you post shows up immediately.
However, the administrator has a few tricks built into the site.
These are above and beyond the standard regulatory systems.
Well, we need these checks to weed out spammers and bots.
If not, our purpose would be choked by hordes of offers from scam-sites and con-groups selling anything from non-existent iPhones to non-existent Gucci bags.
Just so that you know:
...the system blocks around two dozen spam threads and posts every day.
If not for kwun's filters, this forum wouldn't sport the clean look it now has.
The system also allows regular members more leeway than it allows new members. Until you cross a certain post count, the filters are designed to treat your every post with a large amount of suspicion. You will find that the gates open wider once you move into the Regular Member bracket.
In your case, your new thread was blocked because it contained an email address, which is unfortunately quite a standard element in a scam/spam post.
It has since been approved.
Have fun here, mhigham

many thanks Oldhand - I appreciate why you've got to do it, and the product is a fantastic forum like this one.

However, yes, even with the super-tight anti-spams, anti-bots protection in place and the added supervision of the diligent, hawk-eyed mods, we still see a very few of those posts/threads successfully sneaked in here and there.

If there are no 'suspicious' elements, a new thread (or a post) will be up as soon as it is submitted. There is no waiting period at all
