LOL ok so anyways, i just started badminton and I'm planning to join a school team if i make it

i live in canada ontario toronto and i was wondering if anyone knows any places where i can get good badminton gear

my current raquet is a wilson v10 [lol i think, prolly not pro enough to know what it is]

if you know any places where i could get good racquets etc, please post on this thread and thankyou

some nooby specs about me
- really weak when it comes to clearing
- smash is not the best
- foot work and running = fail

and btw im new =] [more like just joined 2 minutes ago]

Welcome to BCBF, nosebleedXD!

A Wilson V10 is good enough for you.

There is no need to buy a new racquet, but I suggest you to try out a new grip and a re-string job to make the racquet feel fresh.

I suggest you to spend that money on private coaching sessions rather than a new racquet. You will see your game improving so much faster if you get coached, but you will have problems trying to even hit the sweetspot if you use a 'pro' racquet such as the high-end Yonex racquets endorsed by the professionals.

Just have a read through this thread to get a clearer understanding of what I mean.

keep it, till you go to a more advanced level.

Good rackets/ equiptment will not bring out the player in you. It's the skills which make you shine.

Equpitment wise, how about you wait till you have entered the school team.

For now, try getting a coach, or play with friends.

Like Arcsaber said, no need for high-end and expensive racquets. Just use some affordable racquets and train on your techniques instead.

And yes, getting a coach will make you improve much faster.

Good rackets comes with Good players.. :P

For a beginner, high end rackets will be harder to adapt - will need alot of speed and power to generate good hits and smashes!!

A good player can hit great with any racket... and a beginner cant hit good even with the best rackets..

Training makes perfect!

Yes, a restring would be the best choice for you if you want to upgrade your equipment. The original, thick stock strings feel dead and they're useless. Try BG80, BG85 or BG66 at 21~22lbs.

there's cbg100, that's even higher :P.. but nbg98 is probably the most repulsive yonex strings available in the market. Expensive though.

BG85 is a good string.. but tends to break easily if u r a hard hitter...
The string only last me less than a week before it breaks!!. :P

Tension use : 26lbs or 28lbs (depends on racket i use)
Time Play/Train : 3 hours everyday

Try BG80..high repulsive..last longer.. but string it at a higher tension..maybe 24 or 25lbs

Yes, it should be able to go up to around 30lbs if strung by an experienced stringer.

But 21~23 would be the best choice.

WHy not just use BG65... It's pretty cheap, nosebleed which part of Ontario are you from?

BG65 and around 20-22lbs should be better for beginner. Getting high tension when you haven't develop good technique can be a bit damaging to yourself physically as you need to exert more force to execute the amount of power you need for good clear/smash/hit.
