Badminton Queen: Zhou Mi is now ranked World Number ONE
.
Greetings,
The BWF Ranking (as at 30-Oct-2008) shows that Zhou Mi is now ranked World Number ONE.
Congratulations to Zhou Mi !!!

Officially retired from the Chinese National Team in 2006, citing a waist injury, Zhou Mi moved on to continue her Badminton career for Hong Kong.
I am sure that many of us at Badminton Central, who followed her career for years, are overwhelmed by her great unexpected comeback.
Cheers... chris@ccc

She's 29... I wonder always how chinese women can long-run?
Like ZN, PHY, Xu, WC, etc.

Nice work! It's been awhile since a player outside of China (even if they're Chinese
) has held the number one spot right? She's certainly done very well lately.

I think Zhou Mi is an excellent player and has achieve a lot in her career. I like her when she was one of the China's 3 top player (Her, Zhang Ning, Gong Ruina).
However lately I'm really disappointed in her attitude on court. She has an arrogance, cockiness that's almost unsportsman.
During the India Open SF when she was playing against Eriko Hirose of Japan, when she loses the rally. She just flicks the shuttle over and often times it way out of the court and when the shuttle hits the net and land on her side. She doesn't even bother to pick it up. She also did this in the finals as well.
I totally agree that she's been performing really well recently, however, it's her attitude that I'm not happy with.
