Not really sure where to begin. Just picking up the sport and am looking for a club/facilities where I can meet other adults, beginner or advanced, who play the game. I reside downtown but wouldn't mind driving for the right environs. Would appreciate hearing from local players, in my level and/or age range who might be able to direct me to some good clubs and/or instruction. Thank you.
Welcome to BC! George brown college is a good place to frequent, but the skill level is quite high and if you don't mind that then give it a go. I recommend getting some friends to go with you to YMCA's/community centers so you can enjoy the game more. To Mods: perhaps this thread should be copied/moved into the Canada East in the Places to Play forum to help Cheyenne find more replies.
Welcome to BC! I'm in Toronto too but I'm uptown so I can't help you with locations in your area. I'm sure there are various places to get into the game.
Welcome.. ..to BCBF, CheyenneSummer!..Yeah, for more infos on places to play near your area you may want to visit the Places to Play/Local Events->Canada East sub-forum/section. Lots of helpful BCers in there. Anyway, hope you'll find a good and friendly place/environment to play in; have fun playing and keep visiting this forum!
...no one else is interested in badminton, at least not in my age range or level. So I'll be going this alone, as a newbie. But I am thrilled.
Ahh I see your dilemma. In that case, I can refer you to a site which has some pretty good information: http://www.ontariobadminton.on.ca/client/oba/obawebsite2.nsf/webwheretoplay?openform&id=1 You can check out that site for place near and around your area. Furthermore, if you are interested in playing my community center which has its fair share of novice players, give me a PM and I'll send you the location and times.
