I usually heat up and sweat a lot while playing. Is there anything I can do before or during playing to stop sweating rapidly.

Sweating is your body's way of cooling your body core temperature. It is natural. You can of course refrain from taking in any fluids to stop sweating but this will be highly dangerous and you could die from it.

I think there are some sort of anti-sweat spray. If your forehead is sweating like there is no tomorrow, get a headband to soak up the sweat. For your body sweat, wear clothing that drys up fast. For arm sweat, wear armbands to prevent sweat getting onto the palm.

Like taneepak said, do not stop sweating. Just make sure it does not get in the way of your game.

    My sweat management strategy includes
    1. microfibre towel that is easy to wring dry (from my swimming days) => infinite sweat absorbing
    2. 1-2 extra polyester T-shirts
    3. Wrist band to prevent the racket grip from getting too wet.
    4. 2 wrist bands for swap in case one gets too wet -- rarely need the 2nd one nowadays because I only play for 2 hours max2
    5. Use a badminton grip that still works well when damp. Currently using the Wilson X-Tra tack.
    6. I also have a similar 2nd racket just in case.
    Unsolved problems:
    1. drenched shorts. I dry it with the towel to some effect but the shorts still start dripping after a while. When the shorts get wet, they stick to the skin :(. It's not problem enough for me to need to change shorts yet but a problem nevertheless.
    2. socks getting wet but hasn't evolved into a real issue yet.
The worst I had recently was when I left a puddle of sweat while stretching for 15-20 minutes after my training.

    Hmm..

this question is akin to asking:
how to stop making gases after eating a bowl of chili beans..[IMG]

i don't know how temperature hot the place you're playing in, but have you tried wearing less clothing?(i don't mean for you to go nearly au naturale, though)..;)..loose-fitting tank-top, short??..

Do those fast-dry clothes help at all? Or are they just marketing hype?

Oh dear, this is what hapenned after playing five sets of singles, then lying on the concrete floor while wearing a Yonex jacket:

You do not want to see what happens when I sit down while/after sweating :)

Why don't you just wear those under-gears which stick to your skin ? There are brands such as Skinz, Phiten, etc. If they're in contact with your skin from the start.. you won't find it irritating.

Somewhat.. but they do not work fast enough at least in hot & humid Singapore. Worse in an un-airconditioned badminton hall. What I like about them is that they do not stick until they are totally drenched.

Ever considered wearing my bicycling tights. Too sexy for me :p.

The microfibre towel is critical for me. I use it to semi-dry my shorts even when it's dripping wet. Just takes a few wrings. I suppose you can do that with a huge towel as well.

So far, the microfibre towel is critical. I can semi-dry my shorts even when it's dripping wet. Takes a few wrings but works.

I would suggest those who sweat a lot to stop taking any cool drink.
I've suffered this in past 2 months and was told by a pro-shop boss to stop cool drink.
It was really effective after 2 weeks (no cool drink at all).

*this is just a suggestion by me and I recommend you all to try. So dont flame at me. As for myself, life without cool drink, coffee is nothing big deal. There is something more important than that.

I think it's perfectly normal to sweat a lot when exercising, but when the sweating goes beyond that, for example when you are doing exactly nothing at normal room temperature then you might be suffering from hyperhidrosis. But first, you might want to check on your BMI and body fat percentage (overweight people tend to sweat more). Also, you might want to check on your thyroid level (you might also suffering from hyperthyroidism).
It has also been known that active sportsman tends to sweat faster than average people. It's just showing that their body cooling system is very efficient.

Hey, what do you mean by cool drink (an example, is it any drink served cold)?
Yes coffee could cause excessive sweating, probably because it increases heart rate or it is in itself diuretic.
