I just had my metallix 10000 restrung and it broke after two games(head split) it was strung well within recommended tension. Anybody else experience similar fate?
metallix 10000 It split about 4 granuts above where 10000 is painted on the side, almost mid frame. It was strung at 27lbs. It's a diagonal split. The racquet is excellent, I find it accurate and good feel at the net. I found the factory grip too thin, so went to a thicker HEAD grip. I was just curious if others had the same problem. I am also curious if the 8000 is better for doubles, as I see many of the HEAD pros playing the 8000. Thanks in advance.
maybe the stringer messed up? sunken grommets? clashes before? incidental abuse? there are many factors... explain as many as you can.
Yes I meant grommets, no abuse, no clash with floor or another racquet. Was in the middle of a game, and went to smash the bird and felt the impact wasn't right, and saw the frame split. Just looks like the fibres broke or couldn't handle the tension, as I had the racquet for almost 6 months and just got it restrung a week ago. I am calling HEAD to see what they have to say, but was curious if any others had similar stories and their results.
had anyone tried the metalix 4000 cause am planning to change that model any comment on that racket???
my partner broke his 8000 too (strung at 26) I still have factory string on my 8000, maybe should put less tension (24-25) when I decide to re-string it.
my head metallix 8k was broken (same location) just two weeks after I bought it and 1 week after I had it restrung. But I have to admit that it happened after I accidently clashed it twice with other people's racquets, therefore I would not blame the quality of the racquet. I have an metallix 10000 as well. I'll use it with caution after I read this post
the head nano power 700 in the package actually is not bad at all! i'm wondering how you like those head birdies in the package deal.
the 8000 is a combine of muscle power m armotec and new gorment system......... look like a yonex clone to me hahahaha
I agree, I was looking at a 8000 and the design of the head looks like armortec + muscle power ! The racquet does feel solid on hitting the shuttle, could be a great racquet.
I just got the Head Metallix 10000. It is stiffer than its "Medium Stiff" label. Smashes are powerful when you really smash hard. Control is more accurate than my previous O3 Sapphire. But it is not for me. This is unforgiving in shots that are not correctly timed or lacked pace. The feeling is also not responsive if your swing is not fast enough. You really have to be a powerful player to fully harness the potential of this racket. I am returning it for the Metallix 8000 to suit my level and style of play. . . perhaps.
