Is it allowed in HKO? To those who attended last year's HKO.. How was it? Were you allowed to bring a camera in? (for regular audience, not ones with press passes) What about an SLR camera? Well, not something too professional-looking but still, not a regular pocket camera.. Is it gonna get confiscated outside?

:D Thx.. Really need to know this beforehand! :p

    ^^Hmm..^^

..what type of camera is "something not too professional looking but not a regular pocket camera"??...

I think the answer would be: just bring your compact digicam. Worst comes to worst, they'll confiscate and keep it until you finish watching the matches/leave the arena. Which i highly doubt they'll do...
*just keep it in your purse/bag/pocket unless they ask for it..

Well, an SLR camera. Surely can't be hidden in a bag.. >.< But not too big and professional-looking.. Just a regular SLR camera.

I know it's safer to bring a compact digicam.. But if I could, SLR would be better, right?

Aaanyway, thanks Chris! Was really hoping someone would reply this. :p

    ^^Meant to say..^^

..just bring your SLR camera w/lens (and your compact digicam), on the 1st day!!..If they confiscate it, so be it, at least you can pick it up afterwards!!..Nothing to lose and you'll know what to do the following day.
Reason is, i've seen situations where people still brought in compact digicams or even DSLRs w/nice lenses and even tripods into (baddy) venues where the rules say otherwise.
    Good luck!!:)

*Btw, do you mean SLR or DSLR??.. ;)

I was there to watch the Round of 16 last year. They have new rule in Queen Elizabeth Stadium that unless we are wearing the VIP badges, we are not allowed to take any pictures inside the gym. In the Preliminary games where it took place at "Ma On Shan", they didn't have that rule, but the rule only occured in Queen Eliabeth Stadium. BTW, I wasn't using any professional camearas. It's just a small camera that I bought when it was on sale - 7.1 Mega Pixel with a maximum zoom of 2.5X.

I was, however, still allowed to go to the place where they sell souvenirs and take pictures with players over there though. Just that when we're in the gym, we were still not allowed to take pictures - even if our flash light are turned off.

That rule was only created last year. Not sure if it'll be enforced this year.

*still plans to take pictures in discreet* I grew up in Indonesia, we don't really care about these rules. :p (However I am quite afraid that they'll confiscate my camera and drag me out of the stadium.. will they?)

    ^^Okay..^^

..barring any unfortunate confiscation of the camera(s) and being dragged out of the stadium (don't worry, i don't think they'll do that), we would expect some pictures to be taken and shared here with all of us..........yes, you know who you are...;)

Psst, scherzando, look for/PM Hau-ge or badMania(friendly folks). They might be your best friends in getting you up close & personal with the players..If they can get you to do that, don't forget to take them out for a treat..;)

Btw, are our local HK photog masters going to go and take pictures for this tourney. Cheung, red00ecstrat & AChan???..I hope one, 2 or all of you guys will spare a bit of time to go & take some pics for us!! Missing kwun's pics is already tough enough...:crying::(

Dont worry about taking photos in QES. The rules says that you cant bring cameras into the stadium. However it is unlikely that it will be reinforced. Many people have brought their cameras into the stadium.

They were stricter and asked people to put away their cameras on QF day. However, I saw nobody getting asked to leave.

Oh yeah, they were really strict today. Security wouldn't even let press photographers through to the court level. Some of the press got really angry.

    Such an attitude is crazy!
Badminton needs as much press as it can get.
Football fans would have burned down the stadium.
