I've been playing badminton on low nets and I hate it! As some of you know the YMCA nets are WAYY below ordinary height. When I have badminton practices my serves are not consistent at all. It either goes too high or it hits the net. Has anyone ever faced these problems before?

well the simple solution would be to tighten the post(s) to make the net(s) the correct height, but im assuming there is some factor that is preventing you guys from doing this? how are the nets set up and the YMCA gym there because you should be able to tighten them to make them higher but like i said i dont know what the setup is or if theres some factor that prevents tightening of the nets.

Even if we tighten the net, it will still be low. It's probably missing 10cm or so

Then dig out the floor, leaving only the surface under the net posts. :D

It's hard to take this issue seriously. Nets that are 10cm low? That's ridiculous.

I'll try again with more sensible suggestions:

    • Check that the nets are only tied at the top. Leave the bottom cords unattached, as these often pull the middle of the net down.
    • Play somewhere else, which doesn't have stupid equipment.
    • Bring your own net. They don't cost that much (it's the posts that are expensive).

Having said that, it might be the posts that are too short. In that case, you're pretty much stuffed. :(

playing with lower nets is sometimes good..... a lot of smashes tend to go over :p

I think maybe the post height??? most nets are designed the same, its just where u tie them. If tightening the two ends still doesn't raise the height of net, then yeah.... as others suggested, might have to play somewhere else.
