Are thre any discussion threads on BC dealing with creating/customizing/improving playing facilities? I have some basic questions in this vein, such as: What is the minimum acceptable ceiling height for a facility? What height is optimal and what is required for sanctioned tournaments? Are there any lighting products designed specifically for badminton? If not, what are the general specs for a good lighting set-up? What companies sell floor mats (esp. in USA) and net poles? Too many questions, but even partial answers would be appreciated. If this seems like a new thread, let me know and I'll post it that way.
Just based on the various locals i have played at, i would throw a guess that around 30 metres would be sufficient. lighting should be "indirect" white light from the sidelines, not directly overhead the court. courts should be dark in color with contrasting lines, and the walls painted in a color that contrasts the common white or yellow shuttle. you can make your own net poles, provided the comply with the IBF rules, which are fairly simple and easily fufilled. Mats are sold by Victor and Yonex for sale in the USA, that i have seen. Take all of this with a grain of salt, i'm a beginner it's just what i've seen from the places i've seen
wow, whoops! no clue what i was thinking on that one, messede up in a conversion somehwere....... i would say then, 45 feet.... one full length of the court would be more than enough
30M is a bit much 30ish feet is more than adequate. Flooring is something I've looked into in the past. The BWF website has a list of "approved" manufacturers to contact. A lot of these same companies offer packages and can help design, and build the lighting/seating for spectators as well. Don't ask me how I know some of this information... I am still working on a project (in progress). Slowly but surely
