That looks like a good thumb grip to me. Bear in mind that there are other backhand grips too; you need a different grip depending on where the shuttle is, and what shot you want to play.
Yeah it looks good but is it me or you hold it really tight ... relax a lil the racket wont fly away or if you are too afrait just use the pinky to hold it (well im a beginner and i suck but i know some basic that im not using proprely )

Yeah, it depends on where the shuttle is wrt your position. May I summarize and if someone can add-on or correct me, this is what I do; If the shuttle goes to my backhand corner and the shuttle is overhead (but not pass my body), the backhand drive return would require a grip where your thumb and index finger are pressing against the bevels (sides of the main flat grip) If the shuttle goes to my backhand corner and the shuttle is not overhead but around my abdominal height, my backhand drive would require a grip where the thumb and index finger are pressing against the main flat part of the grip.
