    Hi all,

Just a little take to see the brainy ones within this forum :). Below i have a attached a picture (poorly done) in word that has 9 squares. Your task, if you chose to accept it :p is to join up ALL thse dots using 4 lines and WITHOUT taking the pen off the paper. Those who THINK they can do it, please do it in paint and then attach it to your post.
This thread will self distruct in 5 seconds :)....

    Matt

Well given that Matt didn't say that they had to be straight lines, to do it with one line would be easy ;)

I actually can't believe people haven't seen that one before, it's one of problems used to explain to people the expression "think outside the square" as most people tend to artificially limit themselves to drawing lines inside the box that's drawn.

As for zero's effort, that's appalling ;) You went outside the box and still got it wrong ;P

well, to zero's defense, he did go outside the box. so at least he got the first part correct! :)

yes. this is a classic, everyone should've seen this one already!

To be honest, i haven't seen this puzzle before. So, what is the real or correct answer?

btw, if the dots aren't zero width, then i can do it with 3 finite length straight lines, if they are zero width, i can still do it with 3 lines, but they'd have to be infinitely long.

extra credit to the person who can calculate how long the 3 finite length straight lines needs to be exactly, as a function of the diameter/radius of the dots.

...and a function of the distance between the centres of the dots, right? :D

    Is it the below one?

m is length of side of small square
n is lowest distance between two small squares
