I attempted my first (non training racket) 35.0 lbs X 38.5 lbs string job tonight. The victim is the infamous RSL X2 Pro. I chose NGY-95. The frame survived but a bit short (1.5 mm) and fat at the bottom. I guess I have to really tighten the bottom shoulder supports. The racket is actually very playable. Will post more details later.

Eugh, 35 by 38.5! I just can't imagine how that would be playable at all; I struggle at 34. I think 38.5 would destroy my shoulder. What sort of sound does it make when you strike the shuttle?

I was thinking something like that. Perhaps a little ping, before a huge crack as the racket spectacularly gives up.

You must be an awesome stringer to have pulled it off though.

It's still holding up. I guess the secret ingredient is the NGY-95. It's a relatively soft string.

I played with Mavis at 33 lbs before. Everything else is fine except smashing. I guess I need to hit the gym again in order to hit harder with nylons.

I can't hit hard with nylons at any tension, and it's not my arm speed. I can smash a feather shuttle faster than anyone I know but I just can't make the nylons go. 38.5 is crazy though, I wouldn't have the nerve to string any of my rackets anywhere near that high. 34 is the highest I've gone. Right now, my rackets vary between 28 and 32.

38.5 lbs is only the cross reference tension :).

awesome~ the key to having a properly lengthened racquet after a higher tension string job is a little more stretch on the head and throat + even pressure on the shoulder supports. Remember last time @ string fest you moved one of the shoulder bracket supports on a different hole making the head and throat shoulder supports non symetrical? I'm thinking that plus a combination of not squishing the shoulder supports in enough contributed the weird effects!

hmmm... My At900P survived the 33x36.3lbs on 10% prestretch with bg66... in theory, it could survive a 36x39.6lbs w/o prestretch function... do I dare to push it with the prestretch? I swear... you are harsh the Little Shoulder Devil that keeps tempting me to push my racquet's limits beyond what's possible! On the otherhand, nothing is possible unless you try... hmmmmm

Why go up bit by bit? Next time just go up to 40x44 at stringfest. You're responsible when the thing collapses on itself and creates a blackhole. Thanks to your stringing adventures, humankind will perish.

    LOL

40 Lbs? Are you guys all mad? Come on, 38.5 on the crosses is enough; more than enough! How do you get the nerves to string at 35 Lbs +? I get scared when I tell my stringer to go for 32 lbs with my Arc 10.

Other than proving a particular racket can handle extreme high tension, can you tell me what did you achieve in your badminton game? Does your smash becomes a lot more powerful? Just curious.
