Hello guys, I`m glad that I found this great forum Could you please recommend a racket for beginner - 12 years old girl. As she is beginner she currently has no preferences in offense or defense. I would prefer Yonex. My limit is around 100 USD... Thank you very much...
100 USD? That's a lot for a 12 year old beginner. The two best 12 year olds at my club both play with Yonex rackets, but not 100 USD ones. The top U13 male player uses the old Muscle Power 21 or 22 (not sure which) and the top U13 girl uses an old Carbonex. I'd recommend a low end Muscle power (5-22) or a low end Nanospeed. You could even get away with the Yonex Basic series. At this stage, a decent racket is important as it will allow her to swing it well. Heavy rackets will inhibit her development. However, high end rackets are stiff and not suitable for beginners with poor technique. I would also recommend you cut the factory strings and replace them with mid-range Yonex strings at a low tension (16 to 18 Lbs). Are you limiting the search to Yonex?
Hi dan, thanx for your comments...I don`t have to spend 100 USD. Whats important for me is that she gets a racket that will help her to improve/grow fast event if it should cost a bit more. What do you think about Nanospeed 500? I would prefer to buy Yonex because they have wide product portfolio. Is there any other racket/brand that you would be more suitable? tomas
The NS500 is a racket I recommend an awful lot to beginners. It isn't too stiff or too head heavy/light. The BP you are looking for is even balance as it will be fine for offence and defence and the NS500 fits these guidelines. It isn't hugely expensive but will last her a long time. I would take a look at Karakal. The MTec 70 is very light at 70 grams so is ideal for a less powerful player. It's expensive, but she'll never reach its limits.
I checked the MTec70 and I really like it but it`s much above my limit...the nanospeed fits all my requirements and limitations
Yeah, the NS500 should be ideal. How much of a beginner is the 12 year old in question? The NS500 might be too advanced. Probably not, but it could be.
NS500 should be ideal then. I would definitely recommend a restring. Yonex low-end stock strings are awful. Get some BG65s or similar and string them at 16 to 18 Lbs unless she can hit really hard for a 12 year old girl.
