Right now, we have exactly 40,000members.. Simply put.. most english-speaking badminton players around the world with internet would have at least visited this site once. So many badminton players at my school call me "Jhirata" now.. :O

many new member, many same threads........ even we have 40k members, only less than 1% are active. less than 10% are medium active. one mod per 10k members.....
haha...welll....i do hope mod can merge some similar thread together......i agree with u drifit...hope more member active...
No doubt the phenomenal growth in membership has a lot to do with the requirement to register to get videos from the sharing thread. It is also noticeable that if someone Googles anything about badminton, the BC site comes up. That is thanks to the wonderful breadth and depth of discussion topics here at BC. (from jump smashes to eye candy) As for the poor moderators and the possible increase in their workload, perhaps some brain could come up with a time-saving Auto-Mod function. For example, if the program detects the popular question "What racket smashes like Lin Dan?", it can respond automatically ad infinitum "Only a racket in Lin Dan's hand." Think of the time saved!
What's remarkable is that topping 'Google Search' has been achieved without resorting to any kind of search-engine optimisation technique. It's something I guess we should be really proud of. It's also the main reason why we keep requesting members to use full names when referring to professional players and sports gear. Right now, we're head-spinningly awash in abbreviations - PJB, NS, MK, MM, AT, SS, BP, ARC, RS, BK, KKK, MHH, LYB, NHL, etc Incidentally, the Eye Candy helps more than we think it does Actually, the bulk of our time is spent on deleting spam That means you never get to see it... and so, no one appreciates such work either :crying: There's a limit to what electronic (and fuzzy-logic) systems can do. And I'll welcome the day we have something that responds to inane and abapical queries with a sanative answer from a non-decadescent stock of replies. (Ha! I like that one ) In the threads, self-regulation works to a great extent. Indeed, we see very few abusive posts these days. And our members are quick to wag their online fingers whenever someone attempts that sort of foolishness. What I really like about the forum is its uncluttered appearance. On most online boards, queries and replies are buried in meangingless signatures and gross avatars. kwun was right a long time ago not to allow such gaudiness in here. If not, I'm sure quite a few of us would have gone overboard with those things It's nearly Giftmas time... and I'm hoping kwun and Cheung will be charitable enough to send me one of the many cameras they have lying around. If not, I'm willing to settle for a couple of F1 tickets from jamesd20 although that prospect increasingly seems to be another English mirage
Poor underappreciated Oldhand. How about we make your join date (Nov 11) a BC holiday? Everyone will send you a gift. Or maybe a picture of a gift. Or maybe just more eye candy. Geez, I don't know about fuzzy logic but my head feels fuzzy just reading your erudite tendentious exposition of philological prowess. For a world-wide, all-ages online community, one has to say that the level of civility here on BC is matchless. Another proof of badminton's good sportsmanship reputation. Cheers
for the time being, only 1 mod is active. that is Oldhand. imagine every member just write one post per day. that will be 40k posts for Oldhand to screen through
Wrong. All the moderators are active. It's just while they work rather silently, I speak my mind Also, they are all usually based in a different timezone.
Hmm.. ..out of the 5 moderators, only 4 are active; Mag, eventhough assigned as a moderator, has been virtually silent for quite a while. Btw, the other 3 active moderators are "silent" because they're kindly waiting for Oldhand to catch up to them in terms of post count.
