Zhao Yunlei has matched Lin Dan's achievements. Nothing else for her to prove. A player that could excel in both WD and XD at the same time. Superceded Gao Ling for sure.

yeah, she is a good player. my only regret that she must lost that final group match, make Wang/Yu must suffer a DQ because trying to get the team 1st plan (trying to grab gold and silver in WD) back on track again.
but anyway, congratz to ZYL.

Zhao Yunlei is not young anymore. I didnt know she is born in 1986; year which most players should start excelling at the early 20s.
She started winning major titles in 2010 at the age of 24 and within these two years, she could win two Olympic Gold medal, one Asian Games Gold, one World Championship and many more titles in SS.
It could be the last time we see Zhao Yunlei in the Olympics. In Rio, she will be 30. What happens to Zhang Nan then.
She needs one more gold medal to become an all-time top scorer in the Olympic gold medal table in the Olympics.

One more gold medal from any department in Rio will make Zhao Yunlei the greatest badminton Olympian of all time.
Lin Dan too has shot at topping the table if he has the strong desire to do it in four years time.
Lee Chong Wei is in the table too.Last edited by repentedboy; 08-12-2012 at 02:49 PM.

Obviously, I am very happy for ZYL. But my joy is tempered by the unfortunate event at the OG and even more by the idiocy of KBA.
After causing the ruckus (well, credits should also go to KJ/CP for wasting their great performance on the wrong match), winning the gold medals is the least that ZYL should do.
I was not high on ZN at the start of their partnership. As their coach Zhang Jun recalled: "He was so weak. His smash did not even make a sound." ZN did improve on his power. More importantly, given the effective attacking from ZYL, ZN's completeness provided the perfect complement that proved golden.
I am still disappointed that Cheng Shu did not make the podium with ZYL. ZYL can win with either. Cheng Shu is the victim and TQ is the lottery winner.
Anyhow, congratulations to all on board the Zhao YunLei Express! Let's see what the next journey will bring.

Very true to some extent but do not mean to be rude to Tian Qing, she has not played her best game in the Olympics. Zhao Yunlei has been the one to cover up her weak points so yes i think she kind of rides on Zhao Yunlei's victories.
It's so funny come to think about it in Pedersen/Juhl's shoes. They played the best match ever and beat Zhao/Tian to top the group but ended up as the losers with no medals to take home from WD in the end. In contrast, their shocking win had practically reward Zhao Yunlei the gold medal.

Potential Passenger Change on the Zhao YunLei Express
LYB just announced that ZN will only partner with ZYL 50% of the time going forward. ZN will partner with younger players such as Tang JinHua (that may also mean retirement paper for Tao JiaMing).
Looks like MJ/XC is locking up the #1 spot in World Ranking and, more importantly, in the eyes of LYB.
