I'm 70 years old and am fortunate to be in good physical shape. I rollerblade 40 miles a week, etc. I used to play competitive badminton at the state high school level many years ago, and would like to take up the sport again. Does anybody know of good badminton venues to play in Atlanta Georgia? Thanks.
Welcome John, There are some posts on the USA East forum about badminton in Atlanta. Certainly the University's have clubs (eg Emory) and I remember seeing postings for clubs in the Atlanta area. Have fun at Badminton Central.
That comes across as a backhand compliment Not all septagenarians are in Old Folks Homes. My dad is another 70+ John G and is still playing strong. (although he might be the only one at my club who I can beat) John, do any of those 40 miles/week of roller blading include Stone Mountain?
john_g, welcome to Badminton Central I'd say that, by current standards, you are still quite young. For news on how we are now placed, please see this post Have fun here!
Thanks, everyone, for all the encouragement. So far I've not found any specific venue, except, perhaps, for Georgia State Univ. and a private club not accepting new members. (Perimeter) For your info, I rollerblade on the Silver Comet Trail. It happens to be closer to my home. Thanks again. I'll follow this website closely.
Emory University Try this link: http://rec.emory.edu/clubsports/clu...DC2&verifyID=D12CED633DD54B558328A01CC66BC106 or this email: emory.badminton@learnlink.emory.edu This site is older and may be out of date, but worth a try: http://www.sbabadminton.org/wheretoplay/ga.htm Or even this people meeting site: http://badminton.meetup.com/cities/us/ga/atlanta/
Welcome.. ..to BCDF, john g (John)!..Glad you've found your way to this site. Reading that you're actually rollerblading 40 miles a week, at your age, is a pretty good testament of your fitness. That, in itself, should be a pretty good inspiration to all of us, esp. the young ones, as I wish i can be as active as you, even now......Any secret??.. Anyhoo, for your query of places to play in the Atlanta area, Fidget pretty much has given the infos. Hopefully those'll be of some help. In the meantime, take your time surfing and hope you'll enjoy whatever limited or limitless (we try to do our best) infos we have in this forum; and do drop by whenever you have time!
