Hello , Usually i have friends in asia playing with me and sometimes i want to tell them some tagalog terms of badminton but translated in English badminton terminology. Can anyone pls tell me below terms in english.. Pls also add to these if needed...thanks. 1. Palo palo = we usually tell this like in " Palo palo tayo" 2. Benta = shot that was poorly executed in the opponent will kill this easily 3. 4.
how about: Lobo = a lift or clear. Basically a shot with a high arc. or Bayo! = to hit a shot with all your power (hehehe ) - di ako nagimbento nyan. yung trainer ko yan.
guys, it is ok to discuss translation of Tagalog terms, but please keep the discussion itself in English. thanks!
oopss sorry about that sir... what i meant on my last post is: others here called the "BAYO" a "BOMBA"....
regalo - return the shuttle where the opponent easily target/hits/smash it. adik - if your badminton addict, that's what we call you.
How about the term "shot (not sure about spelling)", most of us use this term when the shuttle landed inside. Why is it called "shot"? Or is it only here in Philippines?
"shot" is equivalent as "in" -- we adopt basketball style, hehe putang ina -- my friend shouts this one if she misses her smash.
I can't help it. I need to bump this thread. Nice one super daloydoy. You're walking on thin ice here. "good eyes" pronounced as "gud ays" = well left = good call for leaving the shuttle to land out. hataw = bayo = power (pronounced as pawerr) = to hit a smash with all your strength habol = run for the shuttle shyet = my partner shouts when he commits an unforced error
