Default Need help from all MSWord experts

    HELP! PLEASE!

I'm having problems with quotation marks. If I type "shift" and then the double quote symbol ", nothing appears until I type another character or a space bar.

I know anyone could just easily let this go, but I'm a copyeditor, and I use the said symbol (ie, three double quotation marks) as my marker so I could easily go back to the last sentence I was reading after browsing other paragraphs for word consistency checking. My office PC crashed so I'm using someone else's; thus, the settings are different.

I tried everything under my powers. I unchecked everything in the "Auto Correct" options. I also checked the "Regional and Language" options because this glitch also happens outside MS Word.

Is there anyone here who could help me with this? It really annoys me to have to type a space bar before the mark appears. And I don't wanna change my marker because three double quotation marks cause parsing errors and thus warn me that there are still sentences that I haven't checked completely.

Not pirated. Our company is very strict with programs and softwares. We have accreditors from different countries who monitor us.

And yes. The glitch also happens here.

Try checking what language it was selected for your keyboard. For example, US International would behave the way you described. Changing it to US English should display the double quote as you type.

    Hope this helps.

    Okay. Here's what I did.

    I clicked the following:
    1. Start
    2. Settings
    3. Control Panel
    4. Date, time, language, regional ... options
    5. Regional and language options
    6. Languages
    7. Details
    8. US English

    ... still not working

Oh wait. I can type double quotes without using the space bar now. It worked!!! Maybe the reason why it didn't work earlier is because I didn't try it on a new document. I should have closed MS Word and opened it again.

    Thanks viver. Problem solved
