    Hi all!

I have just bought a new muscle power 99 and it is pre strung with bg 65 at a tension of 21-22lbs. After playing with it, i like the control i can get with it but i do not feel enough power but smashing. Was wondering if you people can advise if i should change the string or the tension?

    Thanks

Hard to really make a suggestion without knowing your play style and skill level. When browsing through the postings you'll probably see most people gravitating to BG66 or 80 and higher tension than what you have currently have. However, are you able to play at a higher tension? This lack of power is the string or maybe it's just you? Just something to reflect on.

If you don't feel enough power from 21-22Lbs, it could be one of two things. 1.) Your technique isn't good enough. Get a coach or experienced player to look at you when you smash and see what they think. 2.) The racket isn't strung at a high enough tension. If your technique is OK, this is most likely to be the issue. I'd recommend you try Yonex BG-80 at 24Lbs but asjwu4 said, it's hard to give an accurate recommendation without more information.

besides the above recommendation, you should allow yourself sometime to adjust to this racket. I will not make any change after you played with it for at the least 3+ sessions.

Do you think it's too loose or too tight? Feels too hard when you hit or too soft?

I feel that given the power of my swing, the smash should be harder. I think i am intermediate level and my style is more of a offensive player. I love to smash and the occasional dropshot. When smashing, it feels too light and i think the string is abit loose.

Thanks for replying to my post really appreciate it from the heart

If you find it too lose, first try the above recommendation of bg80@24lbs and go from there.

That is a good suggestion to go with. I started at 24lbs with BG 80 seemed alittle loose then i "uped" it by 1 pound and its perfect! Just lower or highten your tension as needed:D
