i want my strings tight dammit! lol what string tension should i tell them to string it at when i take it to a sports store. i really have no idea
A lof of time people will string their racquet around 23 pounds. If u have strong wrist and arm, u can go up to 26 pounds. I string my racquet around 26 pounds but u have to be careful some racquet will break at this tension and a lot of time stringer will tell u up front that they are not responsible for this tension since it's over the factory recommanded tension limit. Good luck.
If you want your strings tight, string it @28 lbs and above! I believe most Internationals string their rackets around 30lbs for Optimum String tension.
It's your preference String tension is personal perference and is dependent on how you play. What is your current tension now? Are you more of a power player or control player? Can you generate enough power from your arms? The average players are around 19 - 21 lbs with the more advanced players at 22 to 26 lbs.
my raquets aren't very good or expensive i dunno what tension i should get.. i definately dont want them to snap but id be willing to take that risk vs having strings that are too loose
tight strings have more control for dropshots in my opininion they make a louder crack off the shuttle and its just feels like i have more controll overall i hate loose strings ofcourse theres always the posiblitiy of snapping the strings...
sports store stringers if you want higher tension on a badminton racquet, i would strongly recommend you have it done by someone you can trust and knowledge to string high tension badminton. the average sport store stringer jockey is a high school kid who really could give a rat's ass about your racquet and string job. you have to check them out before you give your baby to anyone to touch. take a look at their prior work or other players who have their racquets done. not all stringers will accept work stringing at high tensions.
Yo dude. Other factors to consider when stringing lies on your racquet and your aim. Depending on your skills when making shots, if you string your racquet at around 24 pounds and the sweet spot of your racquet is fairly small. You might be doing more damage to your joins due to the vibration of hitting it off center. The higher the tension the bigger the vibration. If you are a hard smasher couple with a high tension strung racquet and always hitting it off center. Your arm is gonna get it. The Yonex titanium version nowadays have larger sweet spots thus there are eaiser on your arm. they should be fine on 24 pounds. I am not endorsing Yonex but they have the largest sweet spot racquets now. I'm a Proace and Carlton player. Also, the flexibility of your racquet shaft should be brought up as well. Stiff shaft with high tension = more vibration Flexi shaft with high tension = less vibration Flexi shaft with low tension = baby player stiff shaft with low tension = baby player Later dude Mike
the guy i gave my raquet too strings for most club members at about 3 different locations he said i should string my raquet at 18 lbs i told him what you guys said about 24-28 he said you guys are crazy or lieing hehe he said if your playing mostly nylon you dont want anything higher than 18 he said the highest tension he would recommend is 22 lbs. he's going to string mine at 18
You can tell the stringer that I am definately not lying about stringing my racquets at 28lbs. However, I play exclusively with feather and I play a lot. Most other people I know will usually have a tension lower than this. I think up to 22lbs is fairly reasonable. I used to do 24lbs with some inexpensive graphite Prokennex. I still have those racquets..intact.
I usually recommend nothing higher then 22lbs for nylon, but like everyone has been sayin, it's all a matter of preference. What I do suggest is that if you decide to go higher then 22, don't use a 2pt portable stringer. I've broken and seen broken, many a racquet from stringing high tensions on portable stringers. They just don't secure the racquet well enough.
Re: It's your preference I would say power is more effectively and efficiently generated with better elbow to finger movement.
