They number fewer than Malaysia's Sidek brothers... but Sri Lanka's Karunaratne brothers are no less nationally dominant in badminton.

Niluka Karunaratne, Diluka Karunaratne and Dinuka Karunaratne are 23, 22 and 21 respectively.

Niluka, the eldest Karunaratne, has just retained the Men's Singles national title - this is his eighth consecutive year as the Sri Lankan national champion.

The other podium places too have remained within the family for the last three years. Once again, Diluka finished second and Dinuka finished third in the Men's Singles event. And, rather than waste all that talent, the younger brothers teamed up to take home the Men's Doubles national title as well.

These badminton brothers are the sons of Louie Karunaratne, a former Sri Lankan national player.

There's more at The Daily Mirror, Sri Lanka dated 05 January 2009 :)

I believe that those players have been banned to play in BWF tournament as their association has not paid the penalty fee due to withdrawal of few tournaments...
