    Hi all,

Just wondering, I heard this from my coach, I found it hard to believe, but do any of you know if it's true that the best performance of the badminton string comes when it's new (duh), but also when it's just about to break?

I'd say you get the best performance from your strings just after a few hours of play. I've never heard the theory of when it's about to bream and my guess would be this would be when you'd get the worst performance. I've been wrong before though.

    actually, i'd believe that
i think it would be the stage after the string settles, but before it turns brittle......

With very high tensions, the racquet plays at its best from the first shot and then goes downhill after a week-this is considered very good.
With low tensions, the racquet wonders about for a week and then settles down to be at its best, afterwhich it goes downhill-even at its best it is not of the highest playability.
That is why top players who are sponsored by Yonex restring at least once every week at very high tensions. If money is not a problem, you may want to try this out.
