    Men's Singles
Chong Wei Feng vs Simon Santoso [8] -- Simon is on track for SF finish this week.

Andre Kurniawan Tedjono vs Mohd Arif Abdul Latif -- Andre has an excellent chance of qualifying for his first SS QF this week.

    Men's Doubles
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Fang Chieh-Min/Lee Sheng-Mu -- facing the tricky and improve Chinese-Taipei pair, the top-seed must not be as wasteful as last week in terms of conceding healthy leads. They should take this one.

Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah [5] vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra -- it will be wonderful if AG/Alvent take down another seeded pair this week. It will be a 50-50 match and I hope the new duo can qualify for the QF yet again.

Rasmus Bonde/Mikkel Delbo Larsen vs Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan -- also a 50-50 match and Bona/Ahsan need to win this one for a place in the last 8.\

    Women's Singles
Adriyanti Firdasari vs Saina Nehwal [5] -- Saina has the edge, although Firda can upset her.

Pia Bernadet Zebadiah vs Tine Rasmussen [2] -- two consecutive R16 apperance for Pia will be her best results. It will be a major upset if she can beat Tine

    Women's Doubles
Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati [6] vs Mizuki Fujii/Reika Kakiiwa -- Mel/Shendy to win this one and progress to another SS QF.

    Mixed Doubles
Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [1] vs V. Diju/Jwalla Gutta -- the newly crowned MAS SS champion should nail this one down.

Rendra Wijaya/Meiliana Jauhari [8] vs Ko Sung Hyun/Jang Ye Na -- likewise for Rendra/Mel.

Han Sang Hoon/Ha Jung Eun vs Fran Kurniawan/Shendy Puspa Irawati [6] -- Fran/Shendy have been unlucky in drawing tough oppositions in the first two SS events. I am afraid they are going to lose to the more experienced KOR pair.

Korea Open 2009: Day 3 (Round 2) Thursday January 15

    .
The threads for the Korea Open SS 2009 so far, have been quite quiet. Perhaps it's because not many big names have played.

    Today, we would get to see the top 5 seeded players in the Womens Singles, namely;
    Zhou Mi (1) [HKG]
    Tine Rasmussen (2) [DEN]
    Wang Chen (3) [HKG]
    Pi Hongyan (4) [FRA]
    Saina Nehwal (5) [IND]

These players moved into Round 2 automatically because of smaller entries and some withdrawals.

Interesting matches today could come from:

    Mens Singles:
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [INA] vs Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif [MAS]

    Mens Doubles:
Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto [INA] vs Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah [MAS]

    Good Luck to all participants.

I'll do one for the Malaysians

    MS
Lee Chong Wei v Tanongsak - LCW, not exactly on fire but still managing to win the MO, takes on future world-beater; Tanongsak has caused problems for LCW before, but odds are stacked against him.
Chong Wei Feng v Simon Santoso - errm, almost a foregone conclusion; for CWF the fight is for a respectable scoreline
Mohd Arif v Andre Kurniawan - not a foregone conclusion, but a rather confident result

    WS
Julia Wong v Wang Chen - foregone conclusion

    MD
Choong TF/Lee WW v Alvent/Hendra - I always thought Alvent is spelled Alven; one of the matches to savour today, both pairs on paper looks evenly matched.
Chan CM/Chew CE v Han Sang Hoon/Shin Baek Choel - I have never heard of Shin before, so I put my money firmly on the soon-to-be-uncles.

In conclusion, my outlook for Malaysia today is not too bright. Of my predicted losers, Choong/Lee have an even chance, but that's the extent of it.

Songphon/Kunchala and Nielsen/Pedersen win their first set respectively. While Nova/Butet seemed cannot regain composure after losing 2nd set and lose the decider 9-21
