Malaysia's CG badminton team is assured of 9 medals when all their charges in the quarter-finals stormed past their respective oppositions.

It was a pleasant surprise to see Ng Mee Fen qualifying the semis after beating English-woman Julia Mann. Another major surprise was the qualification of their mixed doubles pair into the medal play-off beating the top seeded English pair.

In men's singles, only Richard Vaughan stands in the way of Malaysian's glory. He will likely find Lee Tsuen Seng too hot to handle in the semis. For the record, he has never beaten Lee in their past encounters.

The men's doubles match-up turned up to be as expected where the Malaysians will play against the English pairs.

Mee Fan played very well. I thought only 7 out of 7 Malaysians played in badminton and qualified?

It could have been 4 out of 5!

We could have secured 4 gold medals had only the surprising mix doubles pair of Chew Chun Eng and Chin Ee Hui could turn the tables on the more experienced Archer and Goode..oh well, nevermind! Still a very good effort even making it into the finals, upsetting the top seed along the way! :)

Overall, I'm so pleased for our Malaysian players, made up for the disappointing Mixed Teams event. If only Mee Fen could..nevermind..*sigh* :)

Just came back from Manchester...I love them all...I love them all...especially the ladies doubles. Those two wanted to win so badly, even the English were cheering for them in the end. Ang Li Pang has tremendous potential, she got the strength and the height.
