Hi guys, long time lurker first time joining and actually posting on the forum lol.
anyway...i was searching for any news and interviews with Taufik regarding his resignation, and did i found a goldmine. He actually have a very cool website (www.taufik-hidayat.com), and it is very active, in fact he has his own blog! he wrote regularly, and it's good to hear his thoughts on many subjects, specifically his resignation.
the website also posted an official statement by Taufik regarding his decision to leave PBSI.
i know i'll sound like a sap pathetic woman, but his words do really touch me. even though i know, many behind him has tweaked the words, but still, it is from his own words.

Talents and skill has never been the problem for TH. Lack of focus/determination and stamina otoh..... Let's see if going independent will rekindle his play. He's still part of SGS so he should be able to utilize their resources.

Hmm..
..really???..this is the 1st time it's all about Taufik??...Well, to tell you the truth, there have been many threads that are related/dedicated/specially custom made/tailor made to Taufik. This is just one of them.

..it's all good & dandy he has his own "personal" website; and it's in English, too!!
But do you really think he wrote all those in English, himself??..

We cannot claim it is a downright truth either.
But the words touched all his fans heart.I read some comments, and gosh, the resignation is even more touching than the Obama's oath-taking ceremony

Help me sum it up please, because I want to really get a good grasps of the pro's and cons of Taufik's decision to quit PBSI. What are the advantages for Taufik and disadvantages of his decision? As far as i can tell from the thread:
1. He has to be selfsupporting (pay his own training, coach, travels, insurance, equipment) so he has to find sponsors or other means of income
2. no more access to training facilities of PBSI except when playing for some events
3. Total freedom in making his own career decisions, where to play, how to train, his own marketing and PR decisions
What else am i missing?
Thanks,
James

u've literally sum it up quite well.
But the pros could also be a result to the cons of being independent.
Total freedom,if he didnt know how to manage the best training schedule, best place to train, or how give public a proper explanation of some loses, could be a disaster for this special player.
The sponsors/financial support, believe me,he got no problem with that.

His biggest advantage..
..by going the "independent" route is that:
he will have a bit more control and be able to keep more of his prize monies or other financial sponsorship(s) than previously (not sure how much of the % of prize money he could keep if he is still playing in Pelatnas. Maybe Krisna can give us some insider info??
).
*koo_fan, yes, only U.S. citizens can vote. However, as long as one is a U.S. citizen, one doesn't have to be in the U.S. to vote. On the other hand, not all people in the U.S. can vote (if not citizens) and not all of the U.S. citizens actually voted. Btw, the "sky is falling!!!" thread is a good one to follow, if you haven't followed it.

I experienced it myself, when we want to change to be better (not only badminton) you will have to start over everything..... change the environment... and maybe he will make a commitment to smoke, party, drink LESS.
When he moved, he will be more motivated.... of course this is personal JOURNEY.... pressure not as big as before but commitment will be asked here.
