    1) Usually use YY pattern for the specific racquet.
    2) Stringer string at player's requested tension. Which can be 30x33 or 31x31 or even 28x30 depend on player's preference.
    3) The every string is pull one at a time.

Depending on country and if the stringer is lazy. Mostly use YY Pattern. Some string start from the side to side , bottom to top. Technically the ideal is one piece stringing from the Middle to right and alternate to left then from bottom to top.
Some in pre weaved. In Japan Open, strings are weaved until the main.. and cross is inserted and pull one by one. Sometimes both main and cross and inserted and pull one by one!

    Bottom-Up or Top-Down ?

    i.e.
Did they change when Yonex changed the standard instructions?

Bottom Up. Sometimes they dont follow the Standard Procedures per-se. Too many rackets to handle.

There are orders from the evil empire and there are actual practice as Ants said. From what I have seen, most of them do bottom-up now unless it is requested by players. Yes, there are some lazy one out there too.

Actually.. alot of players nowadays never really bother to ask for top-bottom.

The stringing at tournaments in Malaysia is all pre-weaved, one-string, stringing the mains from one side to the opposite side, and then stringing the crosses from the bottom up. It is very fast, maybe less than 10 minutes. It uses 2-point machine for sheer speed. I think the quality is terrible.

But surely it can't be that bad? Afterall, it must be good enough for the pros.

Or are you saying that you think the quality of the stringing may harm the rackets?

Its not meant to last long.. sometimes after every session.. the players would just cut the string and have it restrung again. And yes.. the stringers are just too lazy. Pity them too.. no sleep as well. Can't blame them at times.
But i agree with you.. quality is terrible. You should replace them as stringers.

From the sound of it (and your obvious knowledge in the field of stringing), you wouldn't be a bad candidate either, Pete ;)

Pete's problem is going for perfection. Therefore, LD, LCW and TH better order his service 1 day in advance, otherwise, they might have to play bare hand. ;)

I saw Peter the Greatest's stringing job. It is worth the wait of 2 days...

PS: Sorry Pete, I know you will just hug the ES5Pro for 2 days before you start...

I did see one of the yonex official stinger at MO used to work at one of the shop in Pertama Complex. And yes, he string customers' rackets from side to side on main and bottom up with 22 cross on AT series instead of 21, on a es5pro machine!

I used to request for 2 pieces with 22 * 21, but they still stringed it side by side on main and bottom up. I end up of never bother to request again since every time I put specific instructions, either they gave me a look, claiming their practice are the best, any pattern on es5pro machine are the same or it never being done before.

At another shop in Puchong, they even request me to pay extra RM50 service for 2 pieces stringing and showing me an attendance course certificate conducted by Gosen as an excuse to charge me extra!!!

Did consider to purchase my own machine but considering the cost, it's best for me to cut it off or wait it break.

Pros are almost certain to ask for specific main and cross tensions but in general, the crosses should be at a 10% higher tension than the mains to keep the racket in shape.

Is stringing bottom up an advantage in anyway? I remember master silentheart saying he strung top down, I have followed this for all rackets I've restrung so far.
