LOL, i truely agree with you. Im not sure about others, but during the time when i newly joined BC, it was like the feeling of wanting my 'number of posts' to increase ASAP, lol, very funny. But now, im more selective of comments to give. Sometimes, even feel lazy to post comments compare freshly participated in BC, LOL

i have seen many forums in which new members are compelled to making their post count high by just chit-chatting in the "off-topic" forum. the result is that the chit-chat forum becomes the most trafficed place and derails the focus of the forum as a whole. and that's what i want to avoid happening here thus chat-chat post don't contribute to post-counting.
what i want to see is that members spend most of their energy here in BC talking about badminton, as that's what we are all passionate about.
ideally what should happen is that all posts should be well thought out and on topic. the ideal never happens but i can tell you that BC is much better than many other forums i have been to.

Refrain Wilfred, refrain.

What's your take on chit-chat on 'on-topic' forums? I am sure you know what I'm talking about - idle chatter on match, general, equipment etc threads found all over the place.
I suppose you can't police everything but it seems to me those on-topic forums are the ones that really needs moderation in this regard.
BC was founded to spread the gospel of badminton, for the congregation to come and debate, discuss on issues regarding the sport, provide advice etc.
If I were a newbie here I'd be right put off if I have to sift through pages and pages of:
"It's just another forum for badminton, filled with kids. Let's see what this one says... *clicks on other links*".Yea, lolzzzzzzzz!!!!!! but i tel u 4 sure it can be done 1.... gimem dat and i wil b veri happy! his skilz is waaaaaaaay better than any of us here!

The bit about kids sounded harsh but that is my perception of many other forums that I have visited - never bothering to look further than the topic I was looking for, never bothering to come back.

Gee, I sure need a time out.

i have been deleting those regularly too. and you must already know that i discourage them as well.
again, while ideally there should only be serious discussion on badminton, every posts made will be on-topic, every post will be well thought out. the ideal never happens and we can only be happy that we have not strayed too far from it.

just remember. as with most things in life, while it sounds great on paper, it is not always realistic to take things to the extremes. one can only realistically seek a middle ground somewhere, the key is where that middle ground lies, and the steps taken to get there.

i understand how annoying it can be when you have to browse through pages and pages of a thread, filtering out meaningless posts to find the content that you are after. Nevertheless, this problem is extant in many forums--the greater the room for off-topic posts, the worse it gets. But i would say that BC is considered less plagued by such threads as compared to many other forums.
Just a suggestion, perhaps the mods could come up with a post crediting/highlighting function whereby credible, quality postings gets highlighted in a thread. This makes browsing of long threads much easier, especially benefitting those who might not have the time to read the full 40 pages of a certain topic. However this would take pretty much effort

Post Count?
I don't understand how the post counter works? Sometimes it jumps when I post and other times it doesn't

read through all of this thread, you'll find out which sections where your posts will be counted, and which sections where it won't.
