Sprained Ankle Treatment - new research
In patients with severe ankle sprain attending eight emergency departments in the UK, a 10-day below-knee cast was associated with a speedier recovery in terms of ankle function, pain, symptoms and activity three months later.

Long term outcome was the same however, after patients were reviewed a few months later, and no difference and function or strengh was noted, so while it may be faster, it will end up the same anyway it would seem

would a faster recovery not be important to you?

oh I absolutly agree. Just wanted to mention it, in case people who tried early mobilisation ( like me ) were worrying that there was any long term disadvantages/damage.
