Hope that I have not confused anyone . Hope that I have not confused anyone. Before posting, I checked kwun 's list of 2009 BWF tournaments and ctjcad 's list of 2009 BWF schedule, but I could not find this Hanoi's tournament listed. The date for this tournament is 2009, from April 21st to 26th. .
BadmintonAsia organizes a series of Int Series and Int Challenges events in several Asian countries EVERY YEAR. We have the Osaka, Vietnam Int Challenges and Smiling-Fish (Thailand) Int Series tourneys kicking off the events in April. There is also a past thread of the Vietnam Int Challenges in 2008: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57459 (held in July last year). My point is: it's not a "NEW" tournament; it has always been in the BWF Calendar since 2004; held in the second quarter of the year (they call it Vietnam Badminton Satellite back then). In fact, it's usually the traditional hunting grounds for MAS and INA young players; not to mention Vietnam's own Nguyen Tien-Minh (who won this tourney + the Vietnam Open GP in 2008).
That's because they focus on GP level tourneys and above. In addition to these, we also have the Junior Events, European Circuits, or Asian Int Series / Challenges events.
Expect to see some INA club players competing in this tourney.....and of course, MAS's legion of youngsters.
Yes. Vietnam Challenge and Vietnam GP have been regular events in the past couple of years. Not new at all...
Laos International Challenge this year. Laos Future Series last year. Cambodian international tournament? Really?!? Cool... Let's get all the ASEAN nations involved in badminton... Brunei and Myanmar, please be active!
Not sure or confirned yet...I heard Brunei is planning to have GP Gold..again..they have cancelled small tournaments in the past years..so it is tough to believe it...
Yea man, what's up with Brunei? Their Sultan loovveess badminton. He should organize a US$150,000 GP Gold... Entertain his people... [and us, the neighbours, who loovvvee badminton]. Having a Brunei GP Gold is better than buying a new Maybach car, in my opinion... ...but that's just me... If there is a Brunei GP Gold, I will surely go to Brunei for the first time ever! Because I'm pretty sure a big hoard of INA players will go there too... Because it is good value for money for us in INA. The plane-ticket price won't be steep at all. Taufik, Sony, Simon, Andre, Maria, Firda, Pia, Febe, Alvent-Hendra, Rian-Yoke, Candra-Joko, Lily-Nova, Flandy-Vita, Mel-Shendy, Greysia-Nintya, everyone will go, I think... Players from MAS, THA, SIN, HKG, TPE surely will go... even JPN, IND, and CHN might go there too...
Yep..heard their BIG PLAN but so far no realization yet.....hm...5 days in Brunei is tough for me.......it is a very boring life there ( for me only)
