    Hi all,

i'm using the above stock combo right now & feel that the smashing power is absence. i'm not sure the stock tension is currently at as well.

i've read through the forum & seems like BG80 is a good choice. My question is, i'm power headed rather more than defense. What tension or string would be more suited for the Cab 21?

    Appreciate your valuable inputs. ;)

BG80 is not likely to give you any more smashing power than BG66. I do like it for the texture/roughness and that it lasts a hell lot longer than the BG66. Vary your tension to see what's good for you.

my MP Limited is setup with BG80 & 23lbs. smashing is similar to my cab 21 with Bg66. i was just wonder if the Cab21 is to change to a BG80 & tension at 24lb, would it generate a stronger smash & sound as well.

If you like BG-80 at 23Lbs, why change what works? Try it on your Cab21 and see if it feels any better. If not, BG-66 is a great string. Try it at your preferred tension.

I'm not saying that the BG80 is a weak string. Heck, it's nearly as powerful as the BG66 (just a tad bit less IMHO). However, you said that you are looking for more power so switching from the BG66 to the BG80 is not going to give you any.

23-24lbs is just about where I feel the BG80 comes alive. I use BG80@25lbs on both my Cab30 and loved them a lot. If you already run the BG80@23lbs on your MP Limited, that is a very good starting reference. You will still need to vary your tension to see what works for you as your favourite may differ between you MP Limited and Cab21.

Not a high one. I'd say 18-22Lbs with a really thick string.

i'm thinking of changing to a BG85 at 24lb for my Cab21. it's 2U compared to my MP Limited at 3U.

Why not give it a try, you will probably end up liking the BG85 for it's feel and repulsion.
Also, how old is the sting on the CAB 21?

the BG66 on the cab is about 2mths old with 2 times a week of session.
the string is beginning to move around after a few smashes. does it mean i need a higher tension than the stock strung?

i have no problem with the BG80 at 23 on my MP limited.

anyway i've sent in to get BG85 at 23lbs. i'm pretty comfortable with 23.
