Very true. Even two times would be quite an achievement, but beating them three times, which she has done (German, All England, and Swiss Opens), is that much more impressive.

There is an old story called Bomber Pilot's Parable.

The story started at an air base during World War II. After every sortie, some bombers came back and some don't.

One smart person noticed the bullet holes on the planes and said, we should reinforce the areas that have lots of bullet holes and more planes will come back.

However, another person pointed out that the planes with those bullet holes can come back. But planes with bullet holes in other areas don't come back. Therefore, it is the areas without bullet holes that need reinforcement.

Now, what exactly MJ needs to improve?

Little MJ is getting some props in the press. Her nicked name turned out to be "motor", for her quickness.

Here are two articles as translated by Google

Inevitably, the label of "Gao Ling of the future" is being tossed around. MJ has now joint the battle with YY and ZYL.

Ma Jin is really very good at the net. fast, and very tight netshot, and full of confidence. quite a joy to watch.

I also enjoy her dominant plays at the net. And surprised how she could keep her mind calm even with ZB's frustrations on her before AE audience. Very promising player as a net player.

MJ's WD partner WXL is ZYL's provincial team partner. WXL/ZYL beat DJ/YY in the final of 2007 national championship.

Meanwhile, ZYL's WD partner CS is from the same hometown as MJ.

    Go figure

I just watched AE, MJ/ZB vs Ha/Ko. I am so outdated.

I think ZB's outburst is uncalled for. He can't expect Ma Jin to fill in Gao Ling's shoes. They have different style. Yes, Ma Jin has weak net kills, but in time, she'll improve. It was wrong to lose temper during the AE tournament. The only outcome they got from that was to also lose their concentration.

Quite a joy to watch off-court too ..... We (avataar and I) practically sat within touching distance, just above the CHN squad in India Open.

She has very good rapport with teammates and her coaches, probably one of the coaches' favourite disciples. That's why they all run to comfort her after the outburst in the All-England ...

Interesting news clip from AE: http://v.ku6.com/show/J9T3g0r5sVxQsEIr.html

This was after the semi-finals. The segment from 2:00 to 3:55 was on MJ/ZB. ZB was instructing MJ, finishing with a big thumb up and "you would be world No. 1". Check out MJ's reaction

ZB actually sounded quite reasonable and friendly.

For the Singapore Open this year, Ma Jin is not participating in women doubles. Most probably the coach wants her to focus in mixed doubles with Zheng Bo since they have excellent results in this year.
