what TH and LD said after TC10 final:

Despite the less than flattering score line of 21-7, 21-14, Taufik's defeat was on the whole a lot more flattering than how Lee Chong Wei collapsed at Lin Dan's clutches in the semifinal. It was apparent that Taufik had all the right ideas but Lin Dan’s superior finesse and fitness provided all the answers.
"I'm a little disappointed to lose to Lin Dan," said Taufik. "His technique and fitness are better than mine, and that made it very difficult for me to get points from him. In the end, I lost and I don't have any excuse for it. I want to apologise to all Indonesians for my loss but I did try my best and no one wants to lose."
"I think that Lin Dan is at a higher level than other players," Taufik added. "Maybe Lee Chong Wei follows next, then Chen Jin, Bao Chunlai, Peter and me. This has to be Lin Dan's golden era now. Maybe new players will emerge to replace him in the future but we can't see how will it be yet. If he continues his form like this, he can be very dominating in the Olympics in 2012."
Lin Dan (pictured left) was both gracious and modest in victory: "I believe the both of us played our best for our country. Winning or losing is not important actually, two top players playing together today is already a responsibility to our country. I do not agree that I'm on a different level compared to other players, I just put in alot of effort in every game that I play. Taufik and Lee Chong Wei have different styles of playing. I'm very satisfied with my performances against them and I also truly appreciate the opportunity to play against them here."Last edited by Jonc108; 05-18-2010 at 02:55 AM.

.....
It looked like a painful moment of truth for Malaysia’s golden boy Lee Chong Wei: After two years, the distance between Lin Dan and himself hasn’t been bridged despite the fact that the Chinese has significantly cut back on competing in the international circuit while the Malaysian has been unbeatable in the Super Series this year and even scooped his first All England title.
The 21-17, 21-8 score-line bears resemblance to the 2008 Olympic Games final between the duo, which Lin Dan won in scores of 21-12, 21-8.
Revealing that it was a mental battle that he lost, Chong Wei said: "When I went onto the court, I wanted to win the first point for Malaysia so badly. In the first game, when nothing worked for me, I lost my confidence. Then, I made many mistakes and didn't play my usual game. The crowd pressure is not an excuse for my defeat, I just lost to myself.”
In terms of technique, Chong Wei does believe that he has caught up with the Olympic champion but of course winning a match of this stature requires more than just a high level of technique. As it was at the Thomas Cup finals, it boiled down to the hosts being mentally overwhelmed.
Chong Wei shared: “Each time a shot came at me, I thought too much and had no idea where I should place my shot. My strategy simply couldn't work today. The occasion plays a big part but I do think that the disparity between our individual skills and techniques has narrowed.”
....
It is a charge that Malaysia’s head coach Rashid Sidek can’t deny. Rashid said: "We lost to a better team. China deserved to win. We thought that our preparations were solid, but they beat us to it.”
“The Chinese don't seem to show their true colours at the international tournaments: today's Lin Dan is not the same Lin Dan as was at All England. We are now pressed to develop and raise the quality of the young players in our squad,” concluded Rashid.

LCW summed it best, "I just lost to myself.”
It does seem, when he's playing LD, that he's unsure of himself.
Maybe what LCW needs is more aggresive skilled players to spar and practice with him on the MAS team in order to train him to a higher level of play.

LD is the player playing at higher level than the rest. Only Players who can beat him is his teamates now or general Li. LCW has not beaten him since 2009.
LD is good because of his speed but most importantly it is his efficiency. He makes very few mistakes during crucial games choose to play those shots that he is good and be patient when he could not play them.
Basically its about percentage. LCW was winning points in the 1st game when he started to attack with less mistakes.
He got demoralise in the 2nd when his attacks were returned by LD. LD was doing the attack of his own. In fact I have often seen LCW recently using very effective attack but I didnt see it when facing LD therefore I could only conclude it's a combination of LCW lack of confidence and wrong tactics.. Then he started to do double motion a la ZJH, wrong tactic to use as ZJH often fall flat when used against Yang Yang only allow LD to rake in more easy points. LCW lost 5 points on those cross court net shots in the 2nd game.

Well say. It is rather frustrating to see LCW keep doing that cross court net shot when he almost gets pwned every time. Ld was just waiting there expect a double action cross court.
LCW fail to employ different tactics and it is quite hard to understand consider his level and experience. We can clearly see how Taufik tried different shots and pace in attemp to break down Ld's defense. LCW in the other hand seems only responding to whatever LD is doing and not setting up his game.
I still remembering the Hong Kong open 06 final between Lee and Lin. When they go toe to toe in full throttle. It was a good display of LCW attacking game in confident. Since Li Mao quit and Misbun take over, LCW's game has gone into a complete different direction and play conservatively. It could be effective when he his pace is higher than his opponent, but not LD.Last edited by Wong8Egg; 05-18-2010 at 01:55 PM.

datuk simply does not have the will and drive to win. the only thing he is interested in driving is his Nissan GT-R that costs more than half-a million ringgit.
already MAS No.1, there is no need for him to train harder to move higher. there is no point and impossible. nobody alive today can take on SUPER DAN at his best.
datuk now mixes with high society like the PM's wife. summore dumped poor little mew choo for a pretty stewardess i heard.

No doubt LD is the best. Unless LCW can beat lindan in more games to come to have an upper hand on the record. If I am lindan, I'll retire early to keep the record. lol..
Still the overall match statistics helps. win-loose margin. Controversy is always there.

As limsy said, it's a matter of inborn personality and there is nothing he nor his coaches can do to change it. This can be gleaned from press interviews and off court behaviour. He is just too cordial, meek, nice. Compare to LD, who is aggressive, even arrogant. The one who believes in himself, even to the point of conceit and arrogance, will dominate... all else being equal. And don't think that LCW is the only one tempted to enjoy the good life with his fame and fortune, I'm sure LD does the same too.
