Actually braids is right, at the time of your writing i.e. 16/8/11, their head to head was 18 to 8 in favour of LD, because the bwf website (I wish it could be much better maintained) not only missed asian games 2010 as you mentioned, but also omitted Hong Kong open 2006, which LD won beating LCW in 3 sets (21-19, 8-21, 21-16). Hope this helps, cheers.

Mainly because LCW is the only one who is anywhere remotely close to LD, although he has nearly nothing of LD's achievements of today. It is difficult to compare players from the past and the present too, although I firmly believe that LD is better than those from the past.

Totally agree. LCW's achievements are not even close to LD. But not having good results doesn't necessarily mean a player is bad. Level of play is also important. In LCW's case, he just has this misfortune of being in the same era as this freak of a player whose chance of occurrence is like once every 50 years. I could be wrong, but LCW's standard in 2011 is probably the 2nd highest in the last 10-15 years, only slightly lower than LD, and arguably higher than Taufik, Gade, Xia Xuanze etc at their best. That alone can put LCW amongst the all time greats.
Maybe I wouldn't say LD is better than all past players, cos one player comes to mind - Zhao Jianhua. When it comes to sheer talent, technique, shot making abilities and tactical thinking, he's one of a kind, just like LD. Of course, LD is almost certainly faster and more powerful, but that can be attributed to advances in training, nutrition and medical technology.
Having said that, Zhao's achievements are not as spectacular as LD, and was terribly inconsistent (partly due to pneumonia and loads of other injuries). On his good days, Zhao can probably match LD, but those days were few and far in between. So yeah, I don't think there's any competition to LD as to the title of the greatest of all time. The fact that we're discussing his place in history when he's not even close to retirement just makes it even more amazing.

This thread truly deserve a bump. Another Olympic Gold under his belt. Anyone who question LD's ability and achievement has no more ground to stand.
Ranked #1. 2 Olympic Gold. 1 Asian Game Gold. 4 World Championship Gold.
I really hope that I would live long enough to see another person to top what LD has achieved. A true living legend!!!

Yes, I agree that Zhao could match Lin Dan. However, Zhao made many mistakes and poor in defense despite his abilities. He had superb skills and great killer shots but when his mistakes were as much as his winning shots, he lost......That explain why he could lose to a much lower ranked player. Unlike Frost who made fewest mistakes and strong defense but without lethal weapons....hence, he almost never lost to player below his standard.....
If on a day when Zhao didn't make many mistakes, like the one in AE 1990, then he has good chance to beat Lin Dan...

it's very hard to compare players from different eras. that's why for me, the best 5 MS in history are : Tang Xianhu, Hou Jiachang, Yang - Yang, Zhao Jianhua, and Lin Dan. they are the best in their eras

8 AE titles, yes, bcoz no china players in mickey mouse AE. But hey, what about Asian Games ? older player likes Hou Jiachang won it in 1974. What about Rudi ? Where is he during 1974 Asian Games ? 8 AE titles with helps from team mates (Liem Swie King and etc), and also no China players at that time. very easy competition but still, rudy needs helps from his team mates. Rudi H is the best ever ?
. btw, LD also can win more than 8 titles if he focus in AE only, plus helps from Chen Hong & Chen Jin in 2005 & 2008 finals. But CBA and LD doesn't interested to make records in mickey mouse AE hahaha
. 2005 won by CH, 2008 won by CJ, and LD very often attend Germany open,,...not focus in AE only, despite he already won it 5 times
