    Saina Nehwal at the 2009 India Open

    It should to appropriate to follow [IMG][IND] Saina NEHWAL at the 2009 India Open.

    Here, Saina is seeded No.2. She would need to defeat the following players before reaching the Finals, namely;

    Seeded No.5: [IMG][MAS] Julia Pei Xian WONG (expected at the Quarter-Finals)

    and then (expected at the Semi-Finals), either
    Seeded No.4: [IMG][INA] Maria Kristin YULIANTI or,
    Seeded No.8: [IMG][MAS] Lydia Li Ya CHEAH

    Can Saina Nehwal make it to the 2009 India Open Finals?
    I would hope so.

    Having looked at the draw again...

    The biggest hurdle for Saina to clear could be at the Quarter-Finals, where [IMG][MAS] Julia Pei Xian WONG [5] is expected to be waiting for her.

    Once clearing the QF, it might be certain that Saina will make it to the Finals.

    All the Best to Saina Nehwal.

    Yup, ZJJ is a tough customer and Lydia is not up there yet. Maria Kristin is supposed to advance from that draw but she herself just returned from injury.

    ZJJ is a tough customer; MKY is one to beat

    .
    suetyan ...... As abedeng said, ZJJ is a tough customer. But MKY is one to beat at the Semi-Finals (depending on how she returned from her injury). But of course, this prediction could be all wrong.

    I am going to PAW this way, anyway. My PAW record is not good at all. :eek::eek::eek:

    ZJJ = Short Superwoman

    .
    Talking about our short superwoman... Has she has grown taller now?
    LYB doesn't like sending shorties out to play. :(:(:(

    Lydia Cheah's confidence will increase when MAS sends her to more tournaments

    .
    limsy ... Don't give up hope on [IMG][MAS] Lydia Li Ya CHEAH [8]

    The last time when both Lydia and Saina played well, they got to meet at the Finals. It was at the 2008 Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold. Saina defeated Lydia, 21-8, 21-19.

    In Game 1, Lydia made too many unnecessary mistakes. Only in Game 2 that Lydia settled down; and at one stage she was at 18-all with Saina.

    Lydia needs more international tournament exposure. Her confidence will increase when MAS sends her to more tournaments.

    2009 India Open: It could be a 'Saina Nehwal-vs-Wong Mew Choo" WS Final?

    .
    It is now confirmed that [IMG][MAS] Mew Choo WONG (Seeded 3) shall be competing at the 2009 India Open.

    So, it could be a 'Saina Nehwal-vs-Wong Mew Choo" WS Final; a final I'm wishing for. :):):)

    Perhaps, only [IMG][FRA] Hongyan PI (Seeded 1) and [IMG][INA] Maria Kristin YULIANTI (Seeded 4) can prevent this match from happening.

    Although her side of the draw appears to be less tough than the other, it's still packed with enough dark horses to make Wong Mew Choo's entry into the final highly unlikely :eek:

    Hope that WMC has now recovered well enough to play against Saina Nehwal

    .
    It was only 3 months ago, at the 2008 Super Series Masters Finals, when Saina Nehwal, Pi Hongyan and Wong Mew Choo were playing in the same Group Stage.

    There, SN defeated both PHY and WMC. And PHY defeated WMC. However, WMC was playing with her injury.

    Hope that WMC has now recovered well enough to defeat the dark horses, and make it to rematch against PHY at the Semi-Finals, and then against SN at the Finals.

    I also just realise when I look at the tournament software :( Too bad can't see our superwoman in action again :( Not too sure what happened to her, but I think most probably is due to injury especially her waist injury
