What's the optimal string for plastic shuttles? Currently using mp99 bg80 at 24 tension, but is there a more durable string that produces great sound at ~24 tension? So what I'm looking for is a mix between: Sound Retaining its tension Durability Thanks.
Yeah, BG-70 is generally considered to be the best overall string if you're going to be playing with synthetics. You could go for a more high end string but IMO, durability will be so poor (high end strings tend to be thinner) and you'll see such a small benefit, it won't be worth it. BG-65Ti is another decent choice for plastics as it is immensely durable. However, due to its Ti coating, it has an odd feel that not everyone likes. BG-70 is probably the safest bet.
If you care about the tension retaining ability, BG70 pro is for you. Feels really stiff though. BG65 if you don't mind the tension dropping fast.
BG70pro and BG65 seem like the winners. Thanks for your answers. About the 24 tension, I tend to hit shots that are out very often, so I thought I might just raise the tension a little.
For sound, i think BG68ti makes the best "bang"! I've not used that many strings, but it definately holds better tension than BG65. Check out Dinkalots string review here: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67659
