    Sudirman Cup 2009 Indonesian Team

    Lius Pongoh, PBSI official in charge of development affairs, said on Friday 20-Mar-2009; "We are still considering the possibility over using athletes from outside the national training camp."

    IMHO, Lius should invite the best Indonesian players to form the INA Sudirman Cup team. Should it matter if the players are from inside or from outside the national training camp? :confused::confused::confused:

    Definitely, if they're ready to represent their country, and are the best the country has to offer, then they should be invited for the team.

    I agree too.

    If badminton is to progress anywhee it must get away from the Nationalised way of running the game. Selecting players from non national based setups must be at least considered. Unfortunately this will mean a falling in stature of such compettions as TC, UC & SC since these tournaments are inherently nationally focussed.

    PBSI said they wanted to think over it

    .
    Yes, it's a surprise, isn't it? :confused::confused::confused:

    Although Taufik said publicly that he would accept any invitations to represent Indonesia at Inter-Nations events, PBSI said they wanted to think over it.

    Sudirman Cup 2009: Possible INA Team

    .
    Yes ... We hope that Taufik Hidayat, Flandy Limpele and Vita Marissa would be called up.

    Based on The Jarkate Post (click here), it appears that;
    * Taufik Hidayat is interested
    * Flandy Limpele is not sure
    * Vita Marissa is not interested

    Taufik's response: "If, say, the championship is next week, and they invite me today, it would be difficult *to accept*" - Very diplomatic - :p

    Flandy's response: "I have to see first who's included in the Sudirman Cup team. If all the other team members are juniors, why should I waste my energy joining a losing team?" - Realistic approach - :)

    Vita's response: "They should be ashamed if they want to use me again." "They'd better not call me back." - I sense anger within the words - :eek::eek:

    BTW, Mr. Chris, it's Jakarta.:p

    Taufik is truly interested to participate

    .
    Jagdpanther ... I believe that Taufik is truly interested to participate. But he wished to be informed earlier.

    However, Flandy does not wish to be committed yet. And yes, Vita is still very angry.

    Sorry about the typo: Jakarta. :eek::eek::eek:

    i'd say we shouldnt call taufik or anyone outside pelatnas to play at sudirman cup...i'd tell lius to use our juniors, so simon as 1st singles, sony 2nd...fran/pia and nova/butet...strictly bona ahsan or rian yoke for MD and maria as WS...we might not get far, but the overall goal is for these 'youngsters' to take in as much experience as possible for the future...i'd say this because lets face it...no country is as strong as/stronger than china right now...so whats the point?might as well get something more important than getting trashed in the final again....

    It's kind of sad hearing Vita's comment on possibility of being called up again. It shows the deep anger from many years of dissatisfaction.

    If I were Vita, I will join the team and channel the anger into energy to beat the opponents. There is no better way to show PBSI or anyone she despises in PBSI that she is still the best around and let them lick their own spit.

    Vita should play for country and fans

    .
    Agree totally. And Vita has many fans too. :)
    Vita should send a message to her fans that she can still be the best without PBSI.

    It will be a good experience to field a completely junior team. But be reminded that the team might get relegated to 2nd division if they fail to win a match :cool: To be safe, it's still necessary to win at least 2 matches and get into the SF.

    Why Vita left Pelatnas

    .
    You mean "don't want to play for her country"?

    IMHO, it is not that she doesn't want to play for her country, but that she is angry with the PBSI National Team Management/Administration. It's something to do with some disagreement in her contract with PBSI.

    And Sandy posted this: click here

    INA has always been strong at the Sudirman Cup

    .
    INA has always been strong at the Sudirman Cup. It would be a disappointment if INA decides to field only a junior team this year, 2009.

    i read from bulutangkis.com 's discussion board that Hendra Setiawan probably going to be paired up with Alvent Yulianto on the 2009 Sudirman Cup. and the Asian Badminton championship would likely to be their first tourney as a pair . . . . . .

    For Sudirman Cup in China, I guess PBSI should use Juniors for their mental exercise. This is good for long-term purposes.

    Senior players like TH, Simon, etc should focus on SS....
