LCW finally cracked against those Chinese newcomers... his games with new chinese players seemed to always drag into decisive set... it was bound to happen sooner or later but first round...

The most ironic seeds had to be in XD. Hkg pair seeded one just cause they play lots of events. When Vita/Flandy only seeded third. They had great chance to win here. Their tough oppponent had to be from China today, Shenye/Majin. Who won this round will probably win the title.

From Women D, the title will be a fight between Indonesia pair and China youngsters.

MS and WS are hard to predict.

MD title will be between Malaysian pairs and Indonesian pairs.

    Mixed Doubles R16
Mohita Sachdev/Tanveer Gill vs Akhmad Tantowi/Richi Dili Puspita -- QF placing for Towi/Richi in their first tourney is a good enough result.

Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto vs Baptiste Careme/Laura Choinet [4] -- likewise for Rijal/Debby. Rijal's experience should help the INA pair in beating the 4th-seed.

    Men's Singles R16
Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [5] vs Chan Kwong Beng -- I think Andre will be able to win this one. I predicted that he will meet Chong Wei Feng, but, Chong lost to his team-mate.

Tommy Sugiarto vs Sairul Amar Ayob [7] -- it will be a bonus if Tommy can progress to the QF.

Arvind Bhat [9] vs Taufik Hidayat [2] -- Taufik for the title! For INA sake...hehehehe...

    Women's Doubles R16
Yao Lei/Shinta Mulia Sari [1] vs Komala Dewi/Debby Susanto -- Yao/Shinta should be too much for our young WD pair to handle.

Vita Marissa/Nadya Melati vs Marylen Ng Poau Leng/Woon Khe Wei -- Vita/Nadya will be a dark horse for the title after beating Wang Siyun/Zhang Jinkang yesterday.

??? vs Jo Novita/Endang Nursugianti -- Jo/Endang should take this one.

Annisa Wahyuni/Anneke Feinya Agustine vs Tang Jinhua/Xia Huan -- a tough match for Annisa/Anneke. Just treat it as a learning experience in their first senior tourney.

    Men's Doubles R16
Candra Wijaya/Joko Riyadi [5] vs Sai Praneeth B./Pranav Chopra -- no problem for Candra/Joko in terms of fulfilling their seeding.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra vs Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie [3] -- unlucky tie for Edo/Lingga as I don't think AG/Alvent will lose to their juniors. Another QF placing for the independent pair to pave their way up to the top 50 in 5 tourneys. With a few more QF finishes in GP Gold tourneys (we still have the Malaysia, Thailand, Chinese-Taipei, and Macau Opens) and a first round in the Indonesia SS, we shall see AG/Alvent in the top 15 by end of August. Not bad a new pairing.

Indonesian Doubles Teams Descend on Hyderabad

    The Jakarta Post
    March 24, 2009

    Ami Afriatni

Baby steps are the name of the game for Indonesian shuttlers in the India Gold Grand Prix.

The Hyderabad tournament, which runs through Sunday, sees a pair of mixed doubles teams making their debut and Maria Kristin Yulianti returning to the court after being laid-up for four months with an injury.

Tantowi Ahmad and Richi Puspita Dili, as well as Muhammad Rijal and Debby Susanto, will use the grand prix to hone their skills as first-time teams.

National team head coach Christian Hadinata said the mixed doubles pairs were sent to India last week in preparation for the Hyderabad and the Sudirman Cup, May 10-17, in Guangzhou, China.

Tantowi and Richi will meet Mohita Sachdev and Tanveer Gill of India in Wednesday’s first round, while Rijal and Debby will meet the Indian duo Alwin Francis and Jyotshna Polavarapu.

The Indonesian Badminton Association, or PBSI, lost one senior mixed doubles shuttler when Vita Marissa withdrew from the national training camp. She still plays as a professional and will compete in Hyderabad with longtime partner Flandy Limpele.

Maria returns to the court for the first time since a right knee injury sidelined her for four months. The women’s singles No. 4 seed begins her comeback with a first-round match against Singapore’s Zhang Beiwen.

The Beijing Olympics bronze medalist suffered her injury after her quarterfinal match in the 2008 French Open Super Series tournament and has not played competitively since.

Indonesia’s national team also sent Tommy Sugiarto (men’s singles), Fernando Kurniawan and Lingga Lie (men’s doubles) and two women’s doubles teams — Komala Dewi and Debby, and Anneke Feinya Agustin and Annisa Wahyuni — to Hyderabad. Several professional shuttlers from Indonesia, such as Taufik Hidayat and mixed doubles duo Alvent Yulianto Chandra and Jo Novita, will also take part in the tournament.

It's just 4 hours to go before the first match starts. Will be away for Badminton games when it starts.

Hope that our BCers will continue to post progressive scores... so that we get to know how players/pairs fight in their matches.

Shall return to read your posts later.

What a quick match by Tantowi/Richi 21-3 21-6 in 10 minutes, while the first seed scrap through first set by deuce and win the match on straight set, Flandy/Vita and Lim/Ng also win their first set respectively
