Contrary to rackets where it's extremely subjective as to what racket is "the best", if one pair of safety goggles for badminton are decent for one person, it is good for everyone else. What pair of safety goggles leads to the LEAST refraction in vision, best field of vision, and best fit? Thanks
why not check out the goggles they use for squash ... it was once compulsory for squash but now it seems they are slacking on the rule one of my fren got hit in the eye while playing squash and was blinded for 2 weeks ... he was lucky apparently coz even the doctors could not do anything and asked him to hope for the best
Karakal do some. I would say that eye protection is much of a muchness, most brands will do perfectly fine eye protection so it'll just be down to availability and personal choice. EDIT:Sorry, that's a rather large image.
if i remember correctly ektelon still manufactures and markets a line of sport goggles, along with a friend who is sponsored by black knight wears black knight goggles. i haven't seen them at too many retail locations, but the best location I remember seeing in Canada online, was tenniszon.com As for finding best fit... that is subjective... Not all of us have the same sized or shaped heads
Best field of vision, clarity, zero distortion and protection? It has to be Oakley M-frame or Radar. Not cheap, but the best you can get. Ballistically proven for military use.
yea i've seen an ontario player wear these they look quite nice and OAKLEY has made a name for themselves for eyewear
The good thing for Oakley's sport lines is, you can switch the lenses so that you can also use it outdoor. One thing to notice is that, not many Asians have the high nose to wear them properly. So better try to see if it fits first.
My school has the Victor sport goggles. Pictured above but problem is the rubber thing sometimes covers your version and they fall off pretty easily. Anyone know protection eye wear that you could wear over glasses??? Contacts don't really work for me and most of my team.
There is one very good alternative to the Oakley or Bolle. Bolle used to make some RX adaptors to their shades, but I just could not find them anymore. There is a Taiwanese airsoftgun company, Guarder, which makes a safty shooting sunglasses array called the C2. You can use the RX adaptor for normal corrective lenses. There are plenty of these around, good protection and not expensive.
For some simple maths of kinetic energy in Joules, which usually is the power measurement in airsoft and paintball guns. Paintballs, roughly 2-3g in weight, with CO2 as the compressed regulated power source, it travels at around 90-100 m/s. i.e. Kinetic energy = 12.5J (Ek = ½ mv2) For the KE of a smash, let's say, shuttle weights at around 4.9-5.0g, travelling at speed around 250kph (70m/s) for pros during smashes. Kinetic energy roughly = 14.6J on impact. Of course, I have yet to see anyone got permanant eye damage during my playing years, but these are the options that you can buy.
