    2009 India Open: Day 4 (Quarter-Finals) Friday March 27

The first matches, all starting at the same time at 2:00pm, will be the 4 Mixed Doubles.

    In Day 3, the 2 higher seeds eliminated were;
    * Chong Ming CHAN (MAS) / Choon Eng CHEW (MAS) [2] from Mens Doubles
    * Fan Frances LIU (SIN) / Yu Yan Vanessa NEO (SIN) [2] from Womens Doubles

At the Quarter-Finals, the 2 highest seeds left standing in each category are:
    Mens Singles:
    Taufik HIDAYAT (INA) [2]
    Andre Kurniawan TEDJONO (INA) [5]

    Womens Singles:

    Hongyan PI (FRA) [1]
    Saina NEHWAL (IND) [2]

    Mens Doubles:
Tan Fook CHOONG (MAS) / Wan Wah LEE (MAS) [1]
Joko RIYADI (INA / Candra WIJAYA (INA) [5]

    Womens Doubles:
Shinta Mulia SARI (SIN) / Lei YAO (SIN) [1]
Jwala GUTTA (IND) / Shruti KURIAN (IND) [3]

    Mixed Doubles:

Yohan Hadikusumo WIRATAMA (HKG) / Hoi Wah CHAU (HKG) [1]
Diju VALIYAVEETIL (IND) / Jwala GUTTA (IND) [2]

The unseeded player, Long CHEN (CHN), who eliminated Mens Singles No.1 Seed, Chong Wei LEE (MAS) [1], in Round 1, continues to show his good form. He has arrived at the Quarter-Finals. He will be facing another Lee from Malaysia, Tsuen Seng LEE (MAS) [8]. Many think that Chen Long can continue on to the Finals to challenge Taufik HIDAYAT (INA) [2].

I count 5 INA vs MAS clash.... :D
The 3 clash in MS is what I'm looking forward to. TH should have the upper hand, while Andre and Tommy...hmmm it'll be an even match.
Was surprised that TCS rally and beat Anup after getting blown out in the 1st set...

    Mixed Doubles QF
Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama/Chau Hoi Wah [1] vs Akhmad Tantowi/Richi Puspita Dili -- the young INA pair has a chance to win this one, but, it will be a major bonus if they can reach the SF.

Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [3] vs Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Li Yujia -- having beaten the CHN pair yesterday, I think Flandy/Vita have a chance of going all the way now.

Ong Jien Guo/Chong Sook Chin vs Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto -- again, Rijal's experience hopefully can bring them to the SF.

    Men's Singles QF
Mohd Hafiz Hashim [10] vs Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [5] -- it will be a bonus if Andre can beat Yoyo Hashim.

Tommy Sugiarto vs Tan Chun Seang -- tough to predict this one, both should be equally matched. I hope Tommy can reach his first SF.

Kuan Beng Hong vs Taufik Hidayat [2] -- 3 down, 3 to go for Taufik in terms of winning the title in Hyderabad this week.

    Women's Doubles
Yao Lei/Shinta Mulia Sari [1] vs Vita Marissa/Nadya Melati -- the INA pair has the edge, but, I am not surprised if Vita/Nadya win today.

Jo Novita/Endang Nursugianti vs Weny Rahmawati/Laura Choinet [4] -- Jo/Endang should take this one.

    Men's Doubles
Chen Zhiben/Tao Jiaming vs Candra Wijaya/Joko Riyadi [5] -- Candra/Joko have the edge over the young CHN pair.

Hoon Thien How/Lin Woon Fui [6] vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra -- I think AG/Alvent's experience can pull them through to reach another SF.

There is no way KBH can beat Taufik, so the question we should ask is "will HH get to masuk tv"

hm...to day will be a good day for Malaysia in MS...
Hafiz Hashim vs Andre Kurniawan TEDJONO - Yoyo pendulum is up and high
    now :D:D:D
Kuan Beng Hong vs Taufik Hidayat-KBH know this is the last chance...er... last 2 (ABC also) or more coming...but he need to prove himself...expect an upset....
Lee Tsuen Seng vs Chen Long- CL a bit lonely fighting alone....LTS is on fire...
Tan Chun Seang vs Tommy Sugiarto- TCS wanna prove his win yesterday is no fluke....

overall this will be a field day for fellow Malaysians....:D:D:D

Not that I want to lemahkan semangat, but the above is highly unlikely. Don't know how good Andre is but I think Hafiz went through full 3 set in the previous last 2 matches. So........

I doubt KBH level can even take on last year uninspired and lazy taufik.

Hope that Wong Mew Choo is now fully recovered

    .
leonardklh ... These are matches to enter Semi-Finals. ;););)

Julia Pei Xian WONG [5][IMG][MAS] - [IMG][IND] Saina NEHWAL [2]
Very tough for Julia Wong. At this tournament, Saina Nehwal is most determined to get to the Finals to win the WS title.

Lydia Li Ya CHEAH [8][IMG][MAS] - [IMG][SIN] Beiwen ZHANG
Zhang Beiwen is in good form. Lydia Cheah might not find this easy.

    Mew Choo WONG [3][IMG][MAS] - [IMG][JPN] Yu HIRAYAMA [6]
While recovering from the effect of her food poisoning, Wong Mew Choo was fortunate to have drawn against weaker players in the first 2 rounds. This one is much tougher. Hope that she is now fully recovered. Wong Mew Choo to win this one.

    Another question could be..

..which one of the two will remain and be considered to stay on the national team??(remember BAM had put forth a "warning" to both of them that they'll be judged in their pre-selected tourneys' performance).

Only chance for KBH, IMO, to beat Taufik is to battle him and make him run all over the court. If need be, force a rubber game.;)
