Anybody ever did it ? Is it needed special tools (as like boomerang in tennis) ? or just use the turntable brake ? or maybe have another method ? please share your experiences .... thanks
I considered making a thread on this a short while ago but can't remember why I didn't. Anyway, thanks for the answers so far, I'm sure maa2003 is grateful too. However, could someone maybe explain the process a little bit more?
OK, guys. As you know the Prince )3 has the big azz hole on top right? Because of the O3 hole design, there is only one way to start and finish the racquet. Please follow the pattern Prince gave you. 1 additional point, the top of the O3 is not the strangest of badminton racquet, so if you have a 2 pt hold down machine, do not over tighten the top. Good luck. PS. in and out, in and out. Pay attention on which hole.
I strung one O3 racket a few months ago...can't remember exactly but I used the turntable brake...It was a bit annoying...
If you don't already have it, HERE is the string pattern for it. Remember, just say "no" to turbo-stringing and you'll be fine.
thanks for all response. it seems that BRAKE is a must-have for stringing Prince O3 badminton racquet (similar to tennis ones). in addition, it may necessary to put waxes in the holes for lubricating and not do the "turbo-stringing"
thanks for the link, but what we discussed here is how to deal with the O3 port, this is more to hands-on experiences rather than theoritical. I can not read the characters on the above link and what is the meaning. as like in tennis, someone used 50-50 method instead of using boomerang or brake, the other used the hip, while official from Prince is using brake.
Well, I decided to string one up tonight and everything strung up pretty straightforward just like a conventional racket. I found it very easy to string up since those "O3" holes are so big and "free-flowing". On the racket frame, there are markings for where your starting knot should be as well as all the main/cross tie-offs. There are even indicators of where all the shared grommets are too. The mains are straightforward. When you tension the crosses, once you get down to the big O-ports, make sure to align, then lock down your turntable or else your string might be pulled at odd angles. Other than that, theres really nothing different from stringing any other conventional racket. Strung up at 32 x 35lbs with white BG80 (manually prestretched), then tensioned with electric constant pull. I'll get to try it out in a few hours ... see how it plays. Sorry, strings look distorted from wide angle camera lens
