Who will be the Sudirman Cup 2009 runner-up?

as per our tradition, we only poll for the 2nd place winner as China again pretty much poised to win the Cup for the nth time in a roll.

the 2nd place contest is more interesting.

Malaysia would do better if they were in-form. Players are too unpredictable, however
But it's still a 2nd place for my team, my vote.

i think China should defend without any problem.

and i voted Indonesia for a more balanced MS / MD / XD / WS than most other.

    i vote Malaysia for 3rd.

Runner-up places will be Korea. Pretty much depends on 3 points from their doubles, they were always be dark horse in team competition. Who dare to expect Korea able to upset Indonesia in their favorite ground -- Istora Senayan during TC Semi Finals last year?

Both INA and KOR have bigger chance to place runner-up position than other participants. If KOR meets INA in semifinal, hard to predict who will advance into finale.

I would pick Korea, they have strong MD, WD and XD.....But LHJ was not in form for past few months, that makes me worry....

And KOR relymore on LYD (MD and XD) and LHJ (WD and XD)

MAS have very little chances to even qualified to SF, having weak in WS, XD departments

My brain says Korea. Why? Though MS and WS have little chance against China, WD is 50:50, while in MD & XD, they got their ace,
The World Dominator - LYD. ;):p

My heart says nothing else but my country.

Finally, my finger votes for... what my heart says. :p

If it's Korea vs. China in the Final..

..then i foresee a very tight battle. Of course, KOR's only chance will come in all of the Doubles events (which i think are their strongest events). And if they can miraculously win the WD event vs. CHN, then watch out....get ready for narnia to start wooting it up in BC!!;)

CHN's homecourt support will be a double-edge sword: they can relish in the homecrowd support or they can feel the pressure..

Well, sort of, but hey, it's fun 'playing' with her, y'know. :p
I'm trying to use reverse psychology tactics here.

The ever-so-great Badminton Empire of China, with OG-hardened shuttlers, crumble under pressure? I don't think so, Mister.

Well..more on the KOR vs. CHN scenario..

..if based on last yr's OG result:
    MS-CHN vs. MAS, CHN won
    WS-All CHN affair
    WD-CHN vs. KOR, CHN won
    MD-CHN vs. INA, INA won
    XD-KOR vs. INA...CHN, 3rd place

MS and WS events, i expect CHN to win both. However, the Doubles events are up for grab as CHN only won 1 out 3 events. Between CHN & KOR, I do think KOR has the upper hand in the MD and XD events. Certainly, it's a 50-50 match in the WD.
