my new toy / birthday present for myself. only strung one racket with it since it arrived today. so far, aside from a few minor issues, the impression i have is quite positive. i will post more detailed review when i have strung a few more rackets with it. stay tuned.
please review the flying-clamps as well, because it is different from Hi-Qua. one vendor sold the hold-down (at 6 and 12 o'clock) for this model.
kwun, are those photos for new catalogue? great photos btw, can you send me a set as my birthday present.
congrats Kwan!!! Welcome back to the stringing world!! LOL make sure to pick up a few YY flying clamps for your crosses (if you haven't already done so) I like that its nice and compact. I've had full size stand-ups, and also table top machines, but nothing quite that portable... Nice choice
the flying clamps. overall, i don't like them. here are my verdicts: good: they do hold tension well, i strung my cab20 @ 28lbs (uncalibrated), they had no problem holding the string. in fact, it felt very secure. that's the good part. bad: - the inner block where it grips the string is not tapered, it is quite difficult to actually put it into place to clamp the string - the spacing for the string is not typical badminton string spacing - it is too big the end result is that i have to fiddle with it for 2-3 seconds more for every clamp. it was a bit inconvenient and if you add up for 40+ strings, that's 2 minutes of stringing time wasted.
Get Yonex flying clamps for cross (You need two to three). I don't think you can do much calibration with your machine; so, double pull each one . The trick is not to totally release the string when you have to double pull. Remember that 28 lbs before lockout will drop to around 25 lbs after 30 seconds or so. Your mileage will vary . Again, crank sucks!
you have tried, haven't you? i think with some DIYing, should be possible. it will make a very nice and compact constant pull badminton machine. the turntable to gripper distance will be minimized. in fact, that is one great thing about this machine. i did the Dinky style pre-string and since the racket/gripper is so small, i had a lot of spare string.
what is the thickness and the width of the ASE's rail ? I never measured my Wise weight, but a bit heavy. also if the thickness is 7mm and width is 49mm, then I'm pretty sure it can be modified with Wise. Yuo can talk to Herb Wise for the adapter because he may sell for non-standard one.
Now, it's Kwun's turn to show photos of every step of the stringing process, including the use of the key ring and starting clamp to hold the first main string .
