Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone had some useful tips and traning ideas on backhand clear. Also, does strength play a bigger role than skills in this shot??

    Thanks.

Strength is important, but technique is even more important. Strength is useless without technique; and vice-versa. Most of your power comes from the momentum, and the flick of your wrist using your thumb. Knees must be bent, elbows must be bent. Don't extend your arm completely, you lose power doing that.

technique sure plays a bigger role...if you would press search > advanced search , titles only, look for keyword 'backhand', or backhand clear, you wouldn't finish reading by this week.

1.footwork 2.good hit point (high elbow position) 3.relax in holding racket and then use thumb to flash the power out to hit the shuttle. watch video of Taufik Hidayat's performance in slow motion. ;)
