    Question How much closer will Lin Dan be able to catch up with Lee Chong Wei's No.1 Ranking?

    .
    Now that Lee Chong Wei is not participating in the current 2011 Singapore Open SS, while Lin Dan is; How much closer will Lin Dan (if he wins the title) be able to catch up with Lee Chong Wei's No.1 World Ranking?

    Is there any BCer knowing how our BWF World Rankings will be changed after this Singapore Open SS?
    .

    Even our news media has got it wrong;

    Lin, 27, who is married to Chinese former world champion Xie Xingfang, lies just 4,160 points behind Lee after winning the Korea Open and narrowly losing to his Malaysian arch-rival in a classic All-England final in March.

    Please give credit where credit is due.
    No doubt LD is the most talented badminton player ever but LCW is world number one based on merit and consistent winning performances.
    I dont think we should run down a player by labeling him negative name(s). LCWs fans and supporters certainly do not share your view.

    Crickey! Judging from his past postings alexyong seems to make a career of LCW bashing. I can understand not liking a particular player but surely you have more intelligent things to say about badminton than trolling like this?

    I think many members like me saw his post but opted not to respond. We should leave these people in their own houses.

    The reason why the mods don t ban a member such as alexyong is because the mods are mostly LD fans and alexyong is perfect as their mouthpiece to say what they can t say. This post will be short lived for sure.

    When I first watched professional badminton and didn t know the history of both LCW and LD, I thought LCW was more talented. Sure, LD has his overhead smash power and that stands out but power is a common gift. What strikes me about LCW is his natural gift in movement, not just in footwork but also in recovery and reflex. That s why LCW s gift in speed is unique and uncommon. But fans tend to perceive LD as most talented because power is more glamorous and more obvious than speed.

    In fact, The Telegraph journalist who covered AE11, and sounded like he s just watched both LCW and LD play for the first time, described LCW as an extraordinary talent. The reason LCW beats his opponents is his unique speed. He wins when he uses it well and so far, he s getting better at it as he grows older and wiser.
