    LCW and LD have participated in equal amount of tournaments. When AE points are calculated, LCW's points are set to break 90k!!!
    Will LD overtake Taufik as world No.2? I hope so...

    He will. LD had been a quarter-finalist to a runner-up, while Taufik had been a quarter-finalist to the first round.

    Thanks... hopefully LCW and LD will remain as No.1 and No.2 till OG2012 so that they won't meet each other till the final... BOLEH?

    Yeah, it would be much more fitting for them to meet in the final every time!

    I believe that by tomorrow, the rankings will be updated bringing in the All-England results into consideration. Why not wait until then?

    Lee Chong Wei was the winner of the All-England last year. Therefore, as the winner again, he should retain the same amount of ranking points. However, since it has been upgrading to SSP, the rankings points for the winner has increased, thus he gains 1800 more.

    For the 2011 Week 10 World Ranking Lists, the points earned from last week's All England weren't included.

    BWF have just released the 2011 Week 11 World Ranking Lists an hour ago (which include points from the All England). And here it is;

    For the top 5 Mens Singles players;

    1. Lee Chong Wei (MAS)........90997 points
    2. Lin Dan (CHN)..................76784 points
    3. Taufik Hidayat (INA)..........76392 points
    4. Chen Long (CHN)..............70513 points
    5. Peter Gade (DEN)..............69605 points

    * Lin Dan has overtaken Taufik Hidayat
    * Chen Long has overtaken Peter Gade

    I really dunno how they calculate the ranking points *shrug*... but I check week by week historical point and I figure after MO and korea, the increase in points are more than AE... which left me dumbfounded a bit

    LCW's ranking:
    2011 11 90996.8578
    2011 10 89196.8578
    2011 9 89196.8578
    2011 8 89196.8578
    2011 7 89196.8578
    2011 6 89196.8578
    2011 5 89196.8578
    2011 4 86446.8578
    2011 3 86446.8578
    2011 2 89046.8578
    2011 1 84646.8578

    From my understanding, week one is after SSF. Then he won MO it went up to 89046 (89046-84646=4400 points). Why the drop to 86k, I have no idea... then KO he got 2nd place, so my guess it jumped to 89196. but he won AE, points only up to 90996 which is only 1800 pts difference...

    undeadshot, I don't understand "retain the same amount of ranking point" cos his ranking isn't changed after the defeat in KO. do you mean if they win the same tourney back to back, then only get 1800? and if they lost the second one, then no ranking points? sorry, I'm getting a little short in my head recently...

    only the top 10 most scored t'ment points within a year count toward the ranking. is that a bit clear?

    thanks limsy but I think it's gonna take a while for me to study these figures going up and down... now I understand what undeadshot means by retained points since I can find the pattern but the reduction in week 3, I dunno why... shouldn't he retained the 89046 figure instead? oh, forget it... so long as he's still in the lead

    .
    OK, the 3 lines below could answer your question;

    (1) The ranking points are summed up from all tournaments played in the last 52 weeks

    (2) If many tournaments were played, the best points from the best 10 tournaments played shall be summed up

    (3) Previous ranking points earned more than 52 weeks ago will be dropped off

    Therefore, when LCW won the 2011 All England he would get his 2011 points. But his 2010 points earned from the 2010 All England would be dropped off, because of (3).

    I hope I have answered your question.
