Unhappy If LCW participates at the 2012 OG, I am afraid it doesn't make any sense

    IMHO, it's the right time for LCW to retire now. I posted in another thread, this post;

LCW will risk bigger injuries if he participates at the 2012 London Olympics. To play Singles well at Badminton, stronger footwork is most essential.

Therefore, if LCW participates at the 2012 OG, I am afraid it doesn't make any sense.

since LCW didn't entered the Singapore Open LD can skip the Thailand Open and he will still be World No 1 the week after the INA open and right up to the London Olympics.

You guys still talk about lcw Olympic dreams?

For an injury like that with his level of training plus those tough opponents?

It's a sad thing to say its over.

    Stem cell no stem cell,

the preparation period is just too short for him.

Having say that I really feel sorry for him.

i tend to agree that unless you're 100% both physically and mentally you might as well forget it.
that really depends on how bad the injuries are.

as for retirement, definitely NO NO.

TH and PG are going, LD sure is thinking about it.
If LCW is retiring as well, LD definitely will follow suit.
    what's left for him?

What is number 1 if you have not won World Championship and Olympic gold?

Sadly, yes... what you are saying make sense..

2 Weeks left for LCW to prepare for OG after his injury healed is definitely too short. Normally it will take around 1 week the fastest, to get over Injury Phobia. Not to mention his footwork, stamina & power will be trained as well in that 2 weeks to get back to a possible level in that short period of time. In my opinion, It is quite hard to get back to his level at 2011WC & 2011AE.

I have suffered Ankle injury as well, which in my opinion is worse or at least same with what our beloved Dato suffers. It took me around 1.5 months to recover and 1 month to get over injury phobia & awkward/stiff movement on court. Not to mention my stamina & power that has been deteriorating on that injury period.

All the best for Dato. As his loyal fans, all we can do are wishing him speedy recovery & may the God of Fortune be with him..

Lee Chong Wei has shoulder injury and will be skipping his next tournament, the Swiss Open, which is playing now (as I type).

Let's have a look at the rankings released on Thursday 15-Mar-2012. The Top 5 positions have remained unchanged.

    1. Lee Chong Wei (MAS)........96599 points (10 out of 16 tournaments)
    2. Lin Dan (CHN)..................93226 points (10 out of 16 tournaments)
    3. Chen Long (CHN)..............84633 points (10 out of 17 tournaments)
    4. Peter Gade (DEN).............73863 points (10 out of 15 tournaments)
    5. Chen Jin (CHN).................70118 points (10 out of 19 tournaments)

Chen Jin, with 19 tournaments played, is still working very hard to overtake Peter Gade.

i let you into a secret.
if LCW wouldnt recover 100% for the London OLY it's a good chance that he will be down to No 3 in Aug.

    It could be the case.

    I am quite happy that this thread has lasted so long (from 06-Apr-2009), stating that;

Quote Originally Posted by chris-ccc View Post

    Greetings,

From we what have witnessed recently, China is no longer interested to have Lin Dan to regain his World No.1 position.

As disappointed as most of us BCers are (wanting to watch matches between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan), we might only get to watch them play each other in fewer occasions from now on.

IMHO, Lee Chong Wei could remain as World No.1 until he retires after the 2012 Olympic Games.

This thread is created to monitor players who could come forward to challenge Lee Chong Wei.

    Cheers... chris-ccc
The story in this thread still tells us that no players came forward to challenge Lee Chong Wei as World No.1

It's only because that LCW was injured, that others get to overtake his position.

Conclusion: Badminton is a sport so different from other popular sports; where players like to challenge other players for higher rankings/positions.

I just gotta totally agree with you! I wonder how much his heart hurts than his OG2008 final clash with Lin dan or world championships 2011 final memories.. This time even before he step to the court, injury occurs...He would be thinking, why this happen to me AT THIS POINT OF TIME!...If i'm in his shoe, i will be speechless and no actions to be thought of.. Men, i could feel this guy...
