I'm thinking about buying a replacement grip for my cab 30. will the removal of the racket's original grip be clean? or is it glued and stapled on? i saw a staple at the top of the bevel. what tools should i use to remove it? any suggestions appreciated.
Use a hair blower to melt the glue, and use a piler or so to remove the staples. It will not be perfect clean, but should be acceptable.
The original grip is no different from any replacement grip. It is pasted onto the wooden handle so do expect some goo left over. After removing the grip, put a layer of electric tape so that future replacements will not tear off anymore wood, add layers of goo, or both.
Thanks! Great ideas! No different from any replacement grip? Was wondering if karakal nano 180 would offer better cushion now i'm not so sure since removing the original grip might make the handle bumpy. Thanks for the info!
You just need to get replacement grips that are more compact instead of the spongy type. I use 1 layer of bobalat synthetic and a 2nd layer of Wilson Profile to get the size I want.
Been using cling film. Perfect, comes off with whatever grip you put on. Leaves the wood clean. And it cost nothing.
So I finally got the original grip off, and there is some leftover residue. I've read that some people sand it off, but I'm afraid that I might reduce the grip size. I was thinking of hot water, any suggestions?
Just pull out as much as you can and ignore the rest of the residue. I use electric tape on the wood to prevent future residue and Lobeh uses cling flim (sounds like a good idea). You probably will not feel those bumps after a layer of replacement grip.
