Thanks a lot, it's a great feedback I've got. I'll try to be not so airily by split-drop and to bend the knees a little more.

I think, sometimes I smash jumping backwards and having momentum backwards. After it I'm even slower as usually in arriving the net.
RacketlonCanada, I'm 30. I started training again since one year, after 4-5 years not playing at all, but I had not ever played better than now (i guess). Nevertheless, I want to improve my skills considerably - "to beat that guy from the A-team".
Is that weird stuff at e.g. 2:10 that the left leg does (the heel goes outwards before the stroke)? It looks funny in snapshot, I'll pay attention to it, it's definitely redundant.Last edited by nixem7; 05-01-2009 at 08:26 PM.

Yeah Jerby the Jump Smash was one thing.
I also saw that , on a few points you were backing from the net , but that was only twice . The other point was most of your smashes were to your opponents body I know the tactical advantages of this but on this opponent wouldn't it have been easier to smash to the sides?
Your defense is good , I am still in bad habits by defending in singles , by moving my leg then my racket it should be the other way around. Your backhand is also good , you caught your opponent out a few times with it
. I liked the backhand smash finisher
.
Anyway I have only watched the video once , but wow your good
By the way , what happened at 5:00 , did your racket go over the net?Last edited by krisss; 05-03-2009 at 11:11 AM.

Thanks for your response krisss

Well, one thing to 'explain' the larger part is the height of the hall, which is something like 16m (and poorly lit) I had a lot of issues with my timing and a sense of where I was on court. Most of the time my smashes are more to the lines (smashing at the body can be useful but I normally don't do it too often...I just don't smash hard enough for that to work)
The backing away from the net is a big problem though, I really have to be quicker on my feet, Hannes was also quite good at the net (do you see how high he takes the shuttle every time? I wish I could do that
it made playing him a lot more difficult)
At 5:00 he obstructed my netkill, but he got it back though, but went out after it touched me, minor discussion

@LD rules! Took me a while to work out how to rotate pic. this can be done quite easily if you play it in vlc, settings, ctrl + g, transformation.
Watched a little of the other guy and thought you were training him. Then you went to the other end and i still thought you were training him.
Then i just read your post and it was a tourney. Sorry didn't seem like a competitive game.
I have just rewatched it again, either you are very good, and making it look effortless or its so hard to tell because i can only see one perspective.
will keep an eye out for the next one.

Video of me playing
After much experimentation, I was finally able to get the video uploaded onto youtube. This is a mixed doubles match with my sister at the 2008 CBA tournament in Jamaica. This is from the middle of the second set.

Comments are welcome. Though I have been playing for close to 9 years now this was the first year that I got coaching, hence the lazy shots.
I am in the blue shirt and green shorts and my sis is in the red top, black shorts.
