I usually play lot better than what is seen here and the competition is usually better to. The chap in red is very good but his partner in the white was very nervous. Good smash thou on him

Hard to say much based on that. Your attacking spirit is obvious, and is clearly helping you win points. You look sharp as the front attacking player. Keep that up.

In video#2 @ 1:02, I see that your racket head is about shoulder height while defending. This makes you very vulnerable to a steep smash. It's usually better to position the racket head at approximately waist height.

The reason I stand up close is cause when I have stood back a bit more, it easier for my opponents to to a half court push down the sides which forces a lift whereas when am up der, I can cut them out!
I know I had to take a few lifts from return of serve on my backhand due to this fact but normally am faster than this and can take those shots on my forehand or overhead. I must ave been bit lazy lolLast edited by gingerphil79; 10-21-2010 at 04:31 AM.

Overall my impressions are that your play was not consistant probably due to not adjusting to the court conditions and speed of shuttle. Did you have ample opportunity to warm up on the court to get a feel of the speed of the shuttle etc? You had trouble in finding the rear tramlines with clears from the rearcourt and lifts away from the net, they either went too far and out, then your adjustment to keep them in were too short, allowing your opponent to smash for a winner.
Your movement and technique around the head into the backhand corner is very good and dynamic although your movement back to base is slightly casual. You look quite tall and straight legged in preparation of your opponents return. Try to be more loaded and sprung ready for a faster movement when moving back into base.
I believe also that your movement backwards is better than your movement forwards, therefore you needn't feel too threatened playing more to the net area. You seemed to lift away from the net more than playing net shots, thus you were not able to pressure your opponents movement. Again this is probably due to lack of feel/confidence with playing in an environment your not acustomed to.

Hi Coach,
you're spot on with the conditioning part. i was trying hard to adjust with the court and the shuttle. and you're spot on with the other pointers as well. i'm working on this, will play in tournament shortly and will try to video my game. really appreciate ur effort and time to watch the video and comment.
thanks
Asif

Okay, I want to try this too
.
It was so cold, I could barely move my legs! Brrr...
(me closest to camera) It's not even a match and it's the only video I've got of myself... *sniff*.
This was at a tournament believe it or not. The smallest "tournament" I've ever played in my life. There were only about six guys and four girls there............. after a four hour drive

This is another match of me playing. Our opponents arent the best and we won like 21 - 12 or something like that in this game but enjoy. At advice about me would be great (am in yellow).
I feel in my overhead smashes, my footwork looks weird or wrong yet when I do it, it feels right. Any thoughts?? At 3.32mins I feel it looks unusual, any thoughts????Last edited by gingerphil79; 12-11-2010 at 06:29 AM.

Heh thanks, do you have a video of yourself playing too? I really should get around to recording a proper video of myself. It's such a good way to spot your faults. Like gingerphil said, sometimes it feels like you're doing it right but then it all looks weird when you see yourself doing it on video!

phil79,
Just watched most of the video , beautiful smash at 6.30 , it look awkward for some of your overhead is due to poor preparation of your footwork (maybe you were taking the match too easy) and not hitting the shuttle at an ideal position .your techique is good so would not worry too much..
those opponents of yours really need some coaching thou !
